Tri-Valley Diamond Dawgs End Season As District Runner-Up After A Late Inning Comeback By St. Clairsville

On Thursday, May 27th at Muskingum University Baseball Field, the Tri-Valley Scotties faced off for the District Championship against the St. Clairsville Red Devils.

The Devils came out swinging as they landed 3 runs in the first inning putting the Scotties behind 3 – 0. After a scoreless second inning the Dawgs opened up the batting cages in the third inning with 2 runs batted in on a single from Ty Smith. And in the fourth inning the Scotties take the lead with a single from Luke Hill bringing in a Hans Holmes followed by a passed ball that allowed Hill to run across home plate himself setting the score to 4 – 3 Scotties.

The Dawgs bolstered their lead in the 5th inning with another run this time by Ty Smith scoring on an error and the Scotties were now up 5 – 3.

However, St. Clairsville was in the battle and they tied up the score in the next two innings leaving the field level at 5 – 5.

With Tri-Valley holding them back as much as they could St. Clairsville opened up the game in the top of the 8th with a triple that saw three runs come across home base followed by two more singles with rbi’s attached to put St. Clairsville up 10 – 5. The Scotties were unable to bounce back in the bottom of the inning and the Red Devils walked away with the District Championship.

Tri-Valley had a great season and District Runner-Up is an achievement that many other teams did not make it to. Great job Scotties and we look forward to next season.
