The Dresden Dorados are a brand new Summer Recreational Competitive Swim Team hosted by the Dresden Swim Center. The team is about 91 swimmers strong with athletes ranging in age from 6 to 18. The team’s name, Dorado, originates from a type of game fish that is known to be fast, strong, and powerful.
The Dresden Dorados competed in their first-ever swim meet on Wednesday, June 9 against the Granville Stingrays and Baltimore Sea Lions at the Dresden Swim Center. In total there were about 140 participants! The final combined scores for the first meet were 619 Dorados, 394 Sea Lions, and 139 Stingrays. What an amazing first outing for the Dorados!
The Dorados put forth a great effort in their second meet, held on Wednesday, June 16 where they competed with the Moundbuilders Country Club Piranhas. The combined final scores were 411 for the Piranhas and 275 for the Dorados.
The next two swim meets will be Wednesday, June 23 versus the Pataskala Porpoises and on Wednesday, June 30 the Granville Stingrays return to the Dresden Swim Center along with the Huntington Hills Froggers.

On a related note, the 6th Annual Jill Griesse Memorial Invitational is being hosted by Granville’s Pau Hana Swim Team at the Dresden Swim Center on Saturday-Sunday, June 19-20. This is a USA Swimming sanctioned swim meet featuring 750 swimmers and their families from teams from all over Ohio and WV. The pool will be closed all weekend for this competition.
