Scout Aaron McConnell Earns “Citizenship in the Community” Merit Badge with Dresden Speech at Summer Camp with Troop 122

A four-week summer camp held at the Muskingum Valley Scout Reservation offered opportunities for Troop 122 of Adamsville to work on their merit badges, learn new skills, and build friendships.

Aaron McConnell was one of six boys from Troop 122 to attend the camp. One of the badges he worked on was his “Citizenship in the Community Badge” where he had to prepare and present a speech about his community. Aaron spoke about Dresden, Ohio in his presentation listing important facts about the village and what makes it unique.

The theme for this year’s camp was iSpy, Scouts in Disguise.

Every scout had a full schedule with attending sessions to earn merit badges during the day, and in the evening participating in various activities such as skits, a night hike, and competitive games. They did a lot of fishing and swimming. Some of them participated in Cowboy Action shooting at the shooting range. The older boys took part in a program called PEAK. The program involves climbing, repelling, and high ropes.

The Muskingum Valley Scout Reservation recently received a grant for updates to their internet service and to also maintain and repair their swimming pool. All of which was enjoyed by Troop 122 and the many troops that attended from out of town.
