Tri-Valley Boys Varsity Soccer Making Big Strides And Even Bigger Goals

Over the last couple of weeks the Scottie boys varsity soccer team has been working hard on improving teamwork and driving toward competing with some of the much more experienced varsity teams they are facing this season. The team has been picking up quickly and it showed with two big conference victories putting their MVL record at 3 – 1 so far this season.

Last week on Tuesday, August 31st, the Dawgs took the long ride to New Lexington’s Jim Rockwell Stadium to face off against the Panthers. The boys put up quite a fight, keeping the New Lex defenses on their toes and limiting them to just 1 point for the entire game, while the Dawgs squeezed by them with a score of 2 thanks to a goal by sophomore #10 Sam Schott with an assist by senior #19 Carter Wehrum and another goal by sophomore #11 Gael Oseguera. For the game sophomore #16 Camden Wickerham had 7 saves.

Fast forward to this past Tuesday, September 7th, when the boys took on the local rival team the Philo Electrics on the Scotties home field in Kenny Wolford Park following the team’s senior night celebration. Philo came to play but the Dawgs were not about to get shown up in front of a huge crowd of family and friends so they held the Electrics to 1 point and took the win home with 4 goals of their own. The goals were contributed by #10 Sam Schott, #8 Devin Watts with an assist from Sam Schott, #7 Elijah Felumlee with an assist by #19 Carter Wehrum, and #9 Dominic Dale with an assist from #13 Aiden McWhorter. For the game, #16 Camden Wickerham had 14 saves and defensively #12 Luke Wilkinson had a stand-out performance.

Next week the Dawgs jump back on the road to head to Warsaw, Ohio where they will battle it out with the Black Bears at River View.
