Coach Leigh Longaberger’s varsity volleyball squad has been racking up set after set as they make their way through their schedule both for the MVL conference and overall. As a matter of fact they have only lost one game so far this season against River View in a 5 set point for point battle that could have gone either way. In the games since then the Lady Dawgs have shown that they are out to be the champions not only of the MVL but as far as they can go.
The Scotties team started out last week with a road game against the Maysville Lady Panthers on September 14th, where they dominated the court with a clean sweep of 3 sets to 0. The standout players for the game were #23 Hannah King with 10 kills – 4 digs – and 2 aces, #22 Lexi Howe with 9 kills – 17 digs – and 2 aces, #14 Eva Dittmar with 8 kills – and 1 dig, and #13 Janie McLoughlin with 4 kills and 2 digs.
On September 16th, they Lady Dawgs returned to Coach Rich Longaberger court in Dresden to take on visiting Meadowbrook Lady Colts. The game started out on the wrong foot for the Scotties with Meadowbrook getting the lead and pushing the Lady Dawgs into to straight defense without a chance to recover. The Lady Dawgs ended up losing the first set 25 -16. After the first set, Tri-Valley regained their composure and got back on the court and started turning the tables on Meadowbrook. The Lady Colts had the lead for a brief moment but it wasn’t long before the Scotties turned up the volume and started to put some space in their lead taking he second set 25 – 18. The third and fourth sets of the game echoed the same pattern with Meadowbrook battling at first but then losing grasp as Tri-Valley stepped up each score winning the last two sets 25 -14, and 25 – 19 respectively.
Back on the road, on September 22nd, the Lady Dawgs headed North to battle it out with the Lady Redskins in Coshocton. The game was fairly brief with Tri-Valley dominating the court and leaving no room for error in the Coshocton defense, they made a clean sweep of the sets and walked away with their 5th victory in a row bringing their overall count to 11 – 1 and their MVL count to 8 – 1 holding tight in the 1st place position.

In the first set Tri-Valley kept New Lex down with a barrage of plays keeping them on constant defense and allowing the Lady Dawgs to get set score of 25 -12.
The second set was much like the first with New Lex stepping up their game a little to end out the set with TV at 25 – to New Lex at 18.
The final set of the game was again a power play for Tri-Valley as they kept control of the ball and managed to overtake the Panther’s defense at almost every serve ending the set up 25 -17.
