Even with the four-point overtime loss to non-conference team New Philadelphia the Monday before Christmas, the Lady Dawgs are back at it again and dominating at home and on the road with a 10 – 1 record overall and 7 – 0 in the MVL.
On Wednesday, December 22nd the Scotties took a road trip to Dublin Jerome High School to face the Lady Celtics. In a head-to-head battle for the first quarter of the game, Dublin gave them a run for their money matching point for point with the Lady Dawgs as they ended the first period 9 – 9.
During the second period, the Scotties edged out their opponents by one point heading into the halftime locker room with a score of 21 – 20.
After halftime, a different Scottie team took to the court as they held the Lady Celtics to just four points in the third quarter while offensively the girls landed shot after shot. By the time the dust settled on the court for the period, the Lady Dawgs were up 41 – 24 with just the final quarter to play.
The Celtics tried to mount a return in the final minutes of play but were left wanting as they couldn’t stop the onslaught of points that the visiting team was managing and the Scotties went home with a 56 – 36 win.
Monday, December 27th’s game had similar results back here in Dresden as the Olentangy Lady Braves stepped foot on Coach Rich Longaberger Court.
Right out of the gate the Lady Dawgs proved that they were not to be trifled with as they outshot the visitors 10 – 4 in the first period.
After learning their opponents’ defense the Scottie girls went to work and held the visitors to just five points in the second period of play while they piled on 21 points of their own to end the half up 31 – 9.
After the buzzer for halftime, the girls roared onto the court again keeping Olentangy in check as they continued to pummel them with shot after shot and pushed their lead to 45 – 18 heading into the final play period.
The Lady Braves didn’t stand a chance as the final minutes wound down, the Scotties showed no sign of stopping as they put 13 more points in their lead total and ended the game with a crushing 58 – 24 win to wrap up the 2021 year and head into 2022 with an outstanding record.
