It’s no surprise that John Glenn didn’t stand much of a chance against the Tri-Valley girls varsity team this year, with a nine-game winning streak anyone on their schedule has to be prepared for the Lady Dawgs this season. John Glenn stepped into the Dawg House Wednesday, January 26th hoping to be the first conference rival to knock the Scotties off of their undefeated run in MVL play, but that didn’t happen.
From the jump, the Lil’ Muskies got ahead of the Lady Dawgs with an impressive show of force in the first quarter of play as they held the Scotties to just five points and left the Scotties with an early deficit of 12 – 5 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter, however, was a completely different story as the Tri-Valley girls rallied together a massive 18-point quarter to grab the lead from their opponents and send John Glenn to the halftime locker room with a four-point deficit of their own at TV 23 – JG 19.
After the half, the Lady Dawgs were not about to let their opponents catch them slipping as they pounded ahead with a slew of shots including a pair of treys from standout player #24 Anna Krupa. As play went on the gap for John Glenn grew larger and they ended the quarter down 37 – 31.
The fourth quarter brought a flurry of activity from the Scotties team as they outscored not only the visiting team but themselves from all previous quarters as they put up a 24-point period including a trey and eight other points from #3 Lexi Howe who had 21 points for the game including her 1000th career point as a Lady Dawg and joins a list of only 7 Scotties girls varsity players to have that record. John Glenn only managed eight points for the quarter and went home without the win as Tri-Valley took the “W” with dominating 61 – 39 score.
