After taking the Sectional Title for the season, the obvious next step is to grab the D-II District Title as well, but standing in Tri-Valley’s way was Meadowbrook who they had faced early in the season and sent them packing with a 64 – 51 win. The Colts, however, were looking for revenge and had been building their case all season long until they finally met up with the Scotties again.
In probably the closest game all season, the score for the first period would be indicative the entire game as the boys went blow for blow and block for block against Meadowbrook to end out the first period tied at 11 points each.
In the second period, Meadowbrook was able to grab the lead just barely as they sent the Scotties into the locker room with a five-point deficit at 26 – 21.
The Dawgs came roaring back onto the court blocking, passing, and shooting like it was their last chance and they closed the gap by the end of the third period tying the game at 32 points rolling into the fourth.
The fourth quarter exploded as the Scotties put a massive 27 points on the board, but the bad news was, so did the Colts and the quarter ended tied at 59 points each. The boys had to settle the game in overtime. OT started out well with each team holding steady and matching their opponent’s moves, but the game got increasingly more aggressive, and fouls started to take place at a high rate giving Meadowbrook the advantage from which the Scotties couldn’t recover ending the game with MB 78 – TV 68. The Dawgs locked in District Runner-Up and they had a great season.
