It has been a wild season for Scottie wrestlers with a lot of setbacks and challenges, but one thing has remained true throughout, this team is resilient! Over the past few weeks of the season, the wrestlers have been advancing on through meet after meet and pushing for this final pinnacle point, the State Meet. This year two Tri-Valley seniors and one junior have made it through.
Senior Isaiah Armstrong (144lb) came close to making it to the state meet for the past two years but this year he is in with an impressive showing at the District meet where he gained his 35th pin of the season, a new Tri-Valley single-season record.
190lb senior Ethan Paladino came to Districts off of a 2nd place finish at the Claymont Sectionals and has been working his way through rounds all season and in the District meet fell in the 3rd place match but still earned enough to get him into state.
Jason Patterson a 157lb junior finished 2nd in Sectionals and made it all the way to the championship match as District where he fell to the projected state champion in the finals but is looking forward to State competition.
Coach Hardman stated “I am extremely proud of how hard these guys have wrestled in the past two weeks. We come through a difficult sectional and an even more difficult district. They’ve had to work through minor injuries and illnesses all season, but their perseverance is inspiring. I look forward to seeing what happens in Columbus and how the Dawgs can finish strong!”
The OHSAA State Wrestling Meet will be held on March 11-13 at the Schottenstein Center on the campus of The Ohio State University.
