Although he is fast on the football field, CJ Kinneer is much faster on a dirt track in his UMP Dirt Modified number 99 car.
CJ is a second generation racer following in his dad Mike Kinneer’s tracks. It started with mini-wedge racing when he was just five years old and he continued in that bracket until the age of 13. After the mini-wedge he moved on to the Class B Modified cars for three more years before ramping up to the current Open Modified or Class A Modified car that he drives today.
Racing every season has been a passion of CJ’s, who one day hopes to be able to get into the ranks for NASCAR and he is building up steam to get there. Every race season CJ and his dad Mike visit six to seven tracks a year, but this season they are hoping to make it to a few more.
To keep sharp for racing season like other racers tend to do, CJ has spent time the last two years in iRacing the leader in sim racing. Not to be undershadowed he is also a student at Zane State College while finishing high school. He is currently carrying a 4.0 grade average and just made the dean’s list in his major of Electical Mechanical Engineering.
Of course like many great success stories CJ couldn’t have made it to where he is today without help along the way undoubtedly including his dad Mike Kinneer and some of his friends from Tri-Valley are even a part of his pit crew from time to time including TV juniors Jake Bowman and Thomas Williams.
