VFW Post 11072 located in Dresden, was surprised with the gift of a powered wheelchair which was delivered by retired Marine Corps Major General David Bice.
Bice was raised in Dresden but left in 1963 to serve his country.
The Community Evangelical Covenant Church of Springfield, Virginia received a donation of a powered wheelchair from one of their members. They were able to put it to good use for some time but recently have not had a need for it. A church member, Paul Seguin, one of Bice’s neighbors, asked Bice if he knew of any veterans that could use it. He thought of his hometown VFW and made arrangements to bring the wheelchair to Dresden.

“We appreciate the efforts from General Bice and his wonderful wife. This is all part of veterans helping veterans and they are more likely to take the help from another veteran,” said VFW Post 11072 Commander Jerry Wade.
The wheelchair will be given to a veteran locally to use who can’t afford one themselves. Most times this type of equipment is not covered by insurance. The post also has medical beds and supplies available for use. They are happy to assist veterans in the Dresden, Adamsville, and Nashport areas with various needs.
