Tri-Valley Marching Band to Perform First Official Show Performance of New Season – Band Director Honored During Band Camp Surprise Presentation

The final day of band camp for the Tri-Valley Marching Scotties closes with a performance of the band’s 2022 show titled “Muted” at Jack Anderson Stadium at 12:45 pm on Friday, July 29th. The public is invited to attend.

Their summer has been a busy one with performances in two homecoming parades, preparing for the upcoming Dresden Melon Festival performance on August 6th, and the annual six-day band camp which began on the 24th. While at camp the band worked on their 2022 show, but also found time to have a little fun and bond with fellow bandmates. The staff planned themed days for each day of camp including Hawaiian Day, Twin Day and Skittles Day to name a few.

During band camp on July 26, State Representative Adam Holmes came to Tri-Valley High School, which was a complete surprise to Band Director Amanda Blevins, and delivered a Resolution by the State of Ohio House of Representatives in honor of Blevins in front of the Tri-Valley Band in the High School Cafetorium.

“As you may or may not know, the Columbus Symphony in 2022 gave her the Music Educator Lifetime Achievement Award from the Columbus Symphony, and that resonates all across the state and in the statehouse, and I got word of it there after they announced it and it was so important to the state, that we had a resolution read inside the capitol building about her and you guys.”

In an emotional and special presentation, Holmes (father of one current and one former Tri-Valley student) read the resolution aloud at the brief assembly during band camp so the students could hear what it said about their director and the impact she has had. The resolution mentions Blevins’ many achievements including leading the Marching Scotties to 39 consecutive appearances in State Competition and supporting countless students in their musical endeavors. The resolution was signed by Robert Cupps, Speaker of the House.

“What’s kept me coming back every year is you”, Blevins told her students after receiving the Resolution. “Your individual light that you shine, I feel the privilege that I get to try to help you find that light and shine it out in the world.”
