Dresden Melon Festival Provides A Day Of Family Fun For All

Another Melon Festival is in the books for Dresden and event organizers, Friends of the Dresden Parks.

The activity-packed day kicked off with a fishing tournament early in the morning. A 5K, vendors, musical entertainment, and activities and games for kids filled the day with something exciting to do for all ages.

One of the highlights of the day was the Melon Derby, which had kids racing their melon vehicles down a track. After several rounds, melon racing veteran Logan Crozier took first place with his skateboard riding melon. Second place went to Wrenlee Stemm and her colorful melon hauling truck.
Other kids’ activities included a seed spitting and watermelon eating contest.

The festival is a true community event supported by area organizations and businesses. Money raised from the event goes back into helping the community.
