Tri-Valley Varsity Boys Soccer Team Leads Week Long Youth Camp

With varsity soccer just ramping up for the season, the boys team has taken to the fields to play and to teach. Aside from their regular obligations for the soccer team the boys team have become mentors for the week as they lead youth boys and girls grades k – 8 in drills and skill challenges to teach them the game of soccer.

In the summer heat spending extra time on the field may not sound like a whole lot of fun, but the boys soccer team is spending their extra time volunteering to teach younger kids the game of soccer. About 65 children signed up for the camp where they get to work side by side with the varsity team to learn new skills, make new friends, and build a love for the game of soccer.

“One mom reached out to me to let me know that her son was having trouble finding an activity where he felt like he fit in. He came to the soccer camp and after hanging out with the other kids and getting fist bumps and encouragement from the older players he came home a different kid. He said he loves soccer and he wants to play it forever” stated Carrie Schott the treasurer for the boys soccer boosters.

The camp was put together to find the interest in building a new youth soccer league in the coming weeks and with the great turnout, it seems the interest is there. Look for more information on the new youth soccer league which will play an eight-game schedule.
