Lady Dawgs Volleyball Wins Sectional Semi-Final Against Newark In A Five Set Match

The Tri-Valley girls varsity volleyball team has been hard at work trying to make it to the playoffs. After a couple of rough conference matchups they have managed to regain their footing and have pushed into playoff season with the most recent big win against Newark in the Sectional Semifinal game.

In the first week of October Tri-Valley took their first loss in nine games to conference rival Sheridan who bested the Lady Dawgs earlier in the season as well on their road to being number two in the MVL.

Two days later on October 8th, at Tri-Valley High School, the girls made quick work of the visiting Granville team as they took a three-set sweep on the match.

On the road, in New Lexington the girls grabbed another big conference win in a five-set match against the Lady Panthers on October 11th.

In their final conference game of the season, the Lady Dawgs had to face the Coshocton Redskins. The girls fought hard matching Coshocton’s points as much as possible but lost the first set 25 – 20. The second set was point for point with the Redskins only picking up the win with a two-point lead at 26 – 24. The final set saw the Scotties lose a little footing to finish the match with the last set score of C 25 – TV 20. For the match Ingrid Dittmar had 33 assists and two blocks, Eva Dittmar had 17 kills, Lexi Howe had 15 kills and 2 digs, Annika Collet had 2 blocks, and Caity Journey had 13 digs.

For their last game of the regular season play, the girls headed off to Licking Valley High School on Saturday, October 15th. The Lady Dawgs were quick to pick up the pace coming off of the recent defeat. Set one went down quickly as the Scotties gained the lead and then proceeded to punish the Licking Valley Team finishing the set 25 – 14. Set two was just as fast-paced with a quick win to the tune of TV 25 – LV 13. Tri-Valley topped off the match with a sweep winning the third set 25 – 9. For the match Eva Dittmar had 9 kills and 6 digs, Ingrid Dittmar had 21 assists, Lexi Howe had 8 kills and 2 blocks, Sami Cameron had 4 kills, Caity Journey had 9 digs, Kenzie Albertson had 5 digs and served 17/17 with 5 aces, and Annika Collet had 4 blocks and served 20/21 with 1 ace. The win sent the girls to face-off against Newark for the Sectional Semi-final game.

Tri-Valley arrived at Newark High School on Tuesday, October 18th to try for a shot at the Sectional title should they beat the Lady Wildcats. The Scotties had a hard battle but were able to best their opponents in a five-set match to move on to the Sectional Title game. For set one Tri-Valley took early control of the ball and kept the tempo fast to catch the Wild Cats off guard, winning the set 25 – 16. Set two saw the Newark team fighting back for their own shot at the title although TV kept up with them for the most part ending the set at TV 21 – N 25. Newark took the third set as well with more of a lead finishing the set at 25 -18 against Tri-Valley. The Lady Dawgs were determined to win and took the fourth set at 25 – 20. The final set was decided with the Scotties taking the win at 15 – 6, and moving on to the Sectional Title game. For the Match, Ingrid Dittmar had 31 assists, Eva Dittmar had 18 kills and served 18/18 with 3 aces, Lexi Howe had 10 kills – 16 digs and served 19/20 with 3 aces, Kenzie Dickson had 4 kills, Kenzie Albertson had 7 digs, and Annika Collet had 4 blocks.
