Obituary: Larry D McFarland

Larry D. McFarland, 77, of Dresden, died Wednesday morning, October 19, 2022 at Genesis Hospice- Morrison House, Zanesville.

Born September 16, 1945 in Zanesville, a son of the late Blake and Florence (Lacy) McFarland and a 1963 graduate of Jefferson High School. Larry retired after 36 years from American Electric Power where he worked as Control Room Operator and served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was a member of the Dresden Lodge 103 F&AM, Dresden United Methodist Church and the Land of Legends Carving Club in Newark. Larry loved being outdoors, gardening, hunting, fishing, trapping and carving. He was a fan of all Tri-Valley sports, Nascar and Ohio State.

Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Sue A. (Robison) McFarland, whom he married July 26, 1969; a son, Steven McFarland; brother-in-law, Gene (Ruth) Robison; a sister-in-law, Carol (Rick) McKnight; many nieces and nephews; a half-sister, Lisa (Corky) Trout.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert McFarland; a sister, Sherlie Cordray and father and mother-in-law, Paul and June Robison.

Calling hours were 4:00pm-7:00pm on Monday, October 24, 2022 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.

Funeral services were held at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Wells officiating.

Larry was laid to rest at Dresden Cemetery, Dresden, Ohio.
