Coach Kurt Kaufman’s Tri-Valley girls basketball team – owners of a 7-1 record so far in the 2022-23 season – heads back to The Dawg House in Dresden on Saturday, Dec. 17 to host the defending MVL champs – and unbeaten – Sheridan Lady Generals. The JV game tips off at 1:00 at The Dawg House.
Here’s a look at results from the Lady Dawgs’ last six games:
The Lady Dawgs picked up their seventh win of the year on Wednesday night, Dec.14 with a gutsy 52-43 comeback win over host West Muskingum. Minus two starters for the contest, Tri-Valley faced adversity on the scoreboard as well against the Lady Tornadoes, trailing 26-14 at halftime, and down 31-19 early in the third quarter, before the Lady Dawgs mounted a comeback for the ages, outscoring the hosts 18-7 in the third quarter, and 20-10 in the fourth period to take home the win. TV senior Lexi Howe scored 20 of her game-high 22 points in the second half to lead the winners, followed by eight from Mackenzie Harvey, and six counters from PD Moore and Karlee Rose, as well as a key six points from sophomore Clara Goss, who came off the bench in the second half to spark the black and gold comeback. Laney Johnson and Gracie Settles scored 14 apiece for WM. TV won the JV game 30-28 and were led by Kylan Brock’s trio of treys for nine points.
On Monday night Dec. 12 at visiting non-conference foe Indian Valley, visiting Tri-Valley led just 21-16 at halftime, but outscored the host Lady Braves 37-8 in the final two quarters to take home a 58-24 win. Jacie Rollison’s 11 points led the winners in a balanced effort, followed by Karlee Rose with 10 counters, and nine apiece from Lexi Howe, Maddie Garber, and PD Moore. TV won the JV game 51-29 thanks to 10 points each from Ella Knowlton, Gwynn Dal Ponte and Annika Collet, eight from Clara Goss, and six from Audrey Wickerham.
On Saturday afternoon, Dec. 10 in Dresden, the host Lady Dawgs beat Maysville by a 64-15 count. Mackenzie Harvey’s 15 points led the winners, followed by 12 counters from Lexi Howe and nine from Jacie Rollison. The host Lady Dawgs also won the JV contest 49-21 and were led by Annika Collet’s 11 points and eight apiece from Clara Goss and Riley McNeil and six each from Baylie Tignor and Kylan Brock.
On Wednesday night, Dec. 7 in Warsaw, visiting Tri-Valley defeated host River View 57-13. TV was led in scoring in the win by Lexi Howe’s 15 first half points, eight points apiece from Jacie Rollison, Kylan Brock, and Addison Wilson, and six markers from Karlee Rose on a pair of treys. The host Lady Bears were led in scoring by Elaina Brenly’s five counters and Lily Yoder’s four points.
Back on Monday night, Dec. 5 in Dresden in a non-conference match-up of two 3-0 teams, the visiting Marietta Lady Tigers marched into the Dawg House armed with some sharp-shooters and ball-handlers, and left town owners of a hard-fought 43-38 win over the host Lady Dawgs.
Marietta led at every break against the Lady Scotties, jumping out to a 15-11 lead after one period of play thanks to a pair of treys from Jacey McKnight, three-point bombs from Saylor Wharff and Allyssa Baker, and three points from Leigha Lauer. Host Tri-Valley countered with a pair of close rangers from sophomore forward Jacie Rollison and her three charity stripe swishers, and two-point counters from Lexi Howe and Addison Wilson. But the tone was set, and the black and gold could never get over the hump against the hustling Lady Tigers, who led 20-15 at halftime, and 31-26 at the end of the third quarter before hanging on for the 43-38 win.
Jacie Rollison led the Lady Dawgs with 11 points, followed closely by Lexi Howe’s nine, six from Karlee Rose on a pair of third quarter treys, and five counters each from Mackenzie Harvey and PD Moore. Coach Logan Scott’s TV JV’s tipped off the evening with their 52-15 win over Marietta and were led in scoring by Gwyn Dal Ponte and Clara Goss, who scored 16 points apiece, six counters each from Annika Collett and Audrey Wickerham, three-point bombs from Kylan Brock and Baylie Tignor, and a bucket from Riley McNeil.
Back on Saturday, Dec. 3, the Lady Dawgs took a slim 15-14 lead at the first break over host Philo, then took control of the game from thereon, utilizing a 19-6 second quarter run and a big second half to win going away over the Lady Electrics, taking a 60-32 win back to Dresden. Jacie Rollison scored in every quarter for the winners, and led the Lady Dawgs with 12 points, followed closely by Addison Wilson’s 11, nine apiece from Lexi Howe and Maddie Garber, and eight counters from Mackenzie Harvey. Bailey Dement’s 12 points were tops for Philo.
