Tri-Valley Football Caps 2022 Season With Annual Recognition Banquet; Lyall, Holmes, Sensibaugh Lead Eight Scotties With All-State Honors

Coach Cam West and his staff honored their 2022 football team on Monday evening, Dec. 5 in the TVHS cafetorium with the annual recognition banquet.

Following is a look at the team’s cumulative statistics (all 12 games) from the Scottie’s 9-3 season, which included a 30-10 playoff win over Jonathan Alder on Oct. 28 at Jack Anderson Stadium.

In the offensive category, the Scottie offense scored 290 points in 12 games for a 24.2 points scored per game average, while just giving up 166 total points for a 13.8 points per game average for the opposition. The TV offense had 16 turnovers on the season in 12 games, compared to 20 on the year for their opponents. The Scottie offense totaled 4,151 yards – 2,750 passing and 1,401 rushing – as the black and gold averaged 345 yards of offense per game, while allowing opponents a 250 yards per game average. The 2022 Scottie offense was known a s a big play offense, proving it with 69 plays of 20 yards or more.

Individually for the Dawgs on the season, TV sophomore quarterback Max Lyall earned Div. III First-Team All-Ohio honors with a record-breaking year as the Scottie signal caller, throwing for 2,746 yards with 183 completions on 293 attempts with an eye-popping 31 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions in 12 games, to include the Oct. 21 game at John Glenn, where he threw for a school record 434 yards and six touchdowns.

In the rushing department, Scottie junior Drake Durst and TV sophomore Jayden Wallace incredibly finished with the same amount of total rushing yards – 593 – to lead Tri-Valley rushers. Wallace scored four times on the ground, and Durst three end zone visits as well.

TV junior Ashton Sensibaugh earned Second Team All-Ohio honors as a Scottie receiver with 51 receptions for 1,246 yards and an astounding 17 scores, averaging 24.4 yards per catch! Sensibaugh also set a school record for receiving yards – 250 yards – in the Oct. 21 John Glenn win. Scottie senior receiver Jayden Walker – who earned Honorable Mention All-Ohio honors – led the team in receptions with 54 catches, good for 743 yards and eight scores, while seniors Hansel Holmes and Thomas Williams each had 27 catches on the season with a touchdown grab apiece. Sensibaugh led the Scotties in scoring with 104 points, scoring 17 touchdowns and a two-point conversion, while Jayden Walker scored 54 points with nine touchdowns, Jayden Wallace 36 points with six TDs, and carter Dinan 35 points with 29 extra points kicked and two field goals.

TV senior linebacker Hansel Holmes also earned First Team All-Ohio honors, leading Scottie defenders with 105 tackles on the season with eight for losses. Also earning All-Ohio Honorable Mention honors for the Scotties for the 2022 season were TV receiver Jayden Walker, lineman Aaron Frueh and Mason Prouty, linebacker Ethan Hlems, and defensive back Thomas Williams.
