Alice in Wonder Land

By Alice Stratman Smith

I was sick last week so I prepared some soup with Inn Maid Noodles made in Millersburg, Ohio years ago (in 1960’s) that brought me good memories of when I lived there. The Reinings owned the company at that time. Mrs. Reining (cannot remember her name) attended a Prayer/Study meeting in my home and we were Girl Scout leaders. How blessed I am to have great memories of great times.

John Bunyan picked up a Christian tract and took it to prison with him. After reading it he was converted and wrote “Pilgrims Progress” which turned millions to righteousness. Years ago Abundant Life Ministries church at Asbury Chapel, south of Hopewell, Ohio had this as a Vacation Bible School theme. One of the crafts for the older students was a cross made from burnt matches. One father commented to me at the closing program that his son chose to attend VBS and complete the cross instead of play in a baseball game.

Oh my, what a difference a ‘choice’ makes. When my husband Larry died 11-22-20 in Texas I had many choices to make. I just wanted to stay in bed, but my chocolate Lab, Ellie needed to be fed. I am so thankful for the assistance and prayers of many great people and The Grief/Share program was very helpful. I am realizing that the things we ‘go through’ here on earth is an opportunity to help others ‘going through’ the same thing.
