Lady Dawgs Add New Lex To String Of Conference Wins

The Lady Dawgs jump their MVL standings up to 4-2 and 4-3 overall, with three conference wins this week. The girls start next week off with a road trip to Maysville.

The Tri-Valley girls varsity softball team started off the week with a strong win over River View on the road in Warsaw, Ohio, on Monday, April 3rd. The game began with a scoreless first inning, but the Scotties fired up the scoring in the top of the second inning when #13 Keyona Murphy scored on a ground-out to shortstop taking an early lead of 1 – 0.

In the top of the third inning, #3 Olivia Rapol scored on a ground ball to left field hit by #24 Raegan Smith. Raegan Smith followed her across the plate on a walk to make the score 3 – 0. To wrap up the inning Keyonna Murphy scored on a fly ball hit by #20 Ally Peterson.

Olivia Rapol continued the scoring streak in the fourth inning with a run off of a double hit by Raegan Smith. Smith then scored on a single by Keyona Murphy to bring the score to 6 – 0. River View came back with a run in the bottom of the fourth but it didn’t break Tri-Valley’s stride.

In the top of the fifth #14, Kylan Brock ran in on a triple by #20 Ally Peterson. Peterson was next in on a ground out to second and ended the scoring for the inning up 8 – 1.

Raegan Smith added another run to the score on a single from #7 Cydnee Wolford in the top of the sixth inning. Wolford then scored on an error. To finish scoring for the game Kylan Brock scored after tagging up on a fly out to right field to bring the final score to 11 – 1.

Tuesday, April 4th, brought a hard-hitting loss by the hands of the Watkins Memorial Lady Warriors when they came to town and landed a 17 – 2 victory over Tri-Valley.

Wednesday saw rival team Sheridan rolling into town for a weather-shortened game that started off with a 2-out, 2-strike homer hit by O’Brien giving them the early lead of 1 – 0 over Tri-Valley.

In the bottom of the third #4, Gabby French hit a two-run homer taking the lead back from the Lady Generals. Later that inning Keyona Murphy scored on a single by Ally Peterson, followed by a three-run homer by Raegan Smith to lock in what would be the final score of Tri-Valley 6 – Sheridan 1 as the game was called in the top of the sixth inning due to lightning in the area.

The Lady Dawgs rounded out the week on the road to New Lexington, where the Panthers took an early 1 – 0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Tri-Valley girls tied up the game in the bottom of the first with a single by #15 Caity Journey that brought Keyona Murphy over home plate.

In the second inning, #2 Falon Wolford scored on a line-drive hit by Kylan Brock to take the lead at 2 – 1. Brock then scored two plays later on a triple hit by Keyona Murphy. Keyona was brought home by a single from Olivia Rapol to round out the second inning at TV 4 – New Lex 1.

The third inning brought another run for the Lady Dawgs as Ally Peterson scored on a sacrifice fly hit by #8 Paiton Murphy putting the score to 5 – 1.

Olivia Rapol and Caity Journey scored in the bottom of the fourth on an error, a single hit by Ally Peterson. In the next play Peterson ran across home plate on a double from Raegan Smith, Smith then scored on a single from Falon Wolford ending the inning up 9 – 1.

Kylan Brock added the final point for Tri-Valley when she scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth inning. New Lex was able to grab a two-run homer in the top of the sixth inning and a single in the top of the seventh but they were not able to catch up with the Lady Dawgs who took the victory with a 10 – 4 final score.

Gametime for Monday, April 10th is set for 5 pm in Maysville.
