Dawgs Baseball Team Opens Up Batting Rally To Push Through Seven Straight Wins

The Tri-Valley boys’ baseball team has had a great season so far, only losing one conference game and two games overall. The last two weeks of games for the Scottie team have been nothing but wins on the road and at home. Going into the weekend the Dawgs carry a 9 – 1 record in the MVL and an 11 – 2 record altogether.

At the start of the week, the squad hosted the Philo Electrics on Tuesday, April 18th, in what would be a pretty close battle. Tri-Valley started the game right when #10 Bennett Baker hit a single line-drive to center that brought in teammate #7 Ashton Sensibaugh in the bottom of the first inning. Sensibaugh brought in another run in the bottom of the second inning when he grounded out to shortstop bringing #19 Kyler Brennen across home plate putting the Scotties up 2 – 0.

An error in the bottom of the third inning brought in a run by #3 Brady Kaufman that was followed by a single from Brennen that drove in #20 Derrick Stotts to put the Dawgs up by four. Brennen then followed by scoring on a sacrifice from #6 Daniel Huffman and the Scotties had a 5 – 0 lead.

Philo was not going to go down without a fight as they rallied back in the top of the fourth to tie the game up at five and held Tri-Valley off until the bottom of the sixth inning when Baker sacrificed to center to bring in #5 Kelynn Drummonds to finish off the scoring for the game as the Dawgs held out to win 6 – 5 over Philo.

On Wednesday, the Scotties hit the road to neighboring rival John Glenn High School where they were held back from scoring until the top of the third inning when #12 Nathan Better scored on a single hit by Drummonds. Baker grounded out to shortstop driving in Drummonds to put the Dawgs up 2 – 0.

The Lil-Muskies took a run in the bottom of the third to close the gap down to 2 – 1 but in the very next inning, Kelynn Drummonds hit a homer to center field popping the Tri-Valley lead back up to 2 runs at a score of 3 – 1.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, John Glenn hitter Colt Emmerson hit a homer to left field trying to narrow in on the Scotties but in the top of the sixth, the Dawgs answered back with two runs from Better and Stotts on a double hit by Sensibaugh to bring the lead to 5 – 2 for Tri-Valley and end the scoring for the game.

On the road again on Thursday, April 20th, the Dawgs headed to face the Crooksville Ceramics and took a shattering lead right from the start when Kaufman doubled to bring in Drummonds and #2 Hansel Holmes. In the following play #15 Kian Drummonds hit a line drive to bring home Baker and just like that the score was Tri-Valley 3 – Crooksville 0.

Nathan Better scored on a double hit by Sensibaugh in the top of the second inning and through a series of errors by Crooksville followed by a double hit by Kaufman which allowed Baker, Drummonds, and Holmes to score pushing the lead to 7 – 0.

Crooksville tried hard to hold back the heavy-hitting Scotties, and they were able to slow them down just a little until the top of the fourth inning when Drummonds scored on a ground out by Baker. In the next play, Kaufman hit a hard single to center driving in Holmes and then proceeds to score his own run on a single hit by #4 Wyatt Brocklehurst. To wrap up the pile of runs for the inning Drummonds scored on a single hit by Huffman to bring the Dawg’s lead up to 11 – 0 over Crooksville.

#17 Kaden King scored on an error in the top of the fifth inning followed by a run scored by Kyler Brennen on a double hit by #1 Kade Hindel to wrap up the Scotties scoring for the game. Crooksville was able to grab two runs in the bottom of the fifth, but it was too little, too late as the Scotties took home the 13 – 2 Victory.

The next game for the Dawgs will be Saturday, April 22nd at West Holmes, game time is set for 7 pm.
