Tri-Valley Varsity Softball Team Brings MVL Record To 8 – 3 With Two Big Conference Wins

The Lady Dawgs hosted Philo on Tuesday, April 18th, at Kenny Wolford Park in Dresden in what would be an epic battle between the two teams.

Philo took the early 1 – 0 lead in the top of the second inning and held that lead until the bottom of the third when #13 Keyonna Murphy scored on a sacrifice fly hit by #3 Olivia Rapol to tie the game at one.

The Lady Electrics took charge in the top of the fourth inning and pulled out four more runs to take back the lead and push it to 5 – 1 over Tri-Valley.

The Lady Dawgs came right back when #2 Falon Wolford stepped on the plate and hit a two-run homer to center field bringing in herself and #24 Raegan Smith. Next at bat was #8 Paiton Murphy who hit a home run to left field. To finish off the scoring for the inning and tie up with Philo #1 Belle Baughman slammed a home run into left field to make the score 5 – 5.

In the top of the fifth, the Lady Electrics jumped back ahead with a home run and run off of a fly to right field to put the score at Philo 7 – TV 5. The top of the sixth inning saw Philo grab two more runs to pad their lead at 9 – 5.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Scottie girls opened up the batting again with a single hit by #15 Caity Journey that brought in #5 Katelyn Paxson. Journey and Murphy scored on a double hit by #20 Ally Peterson who made the tying run on a single hit by Smith in the very next play to land the score at 9 all.

The Lady Dawgs held Philo from scoring any more runs in the seventh inning. In the bottom of the seventh Paiton Murphy walks up to the plate and lands a homer into left field to give Tri-Valley the go-ahead run to win the game at 10 – 9.

On the road on Wednesday, April 19th the ladies had a tough night as they faced MVL number one ranked Lady Muskies who walked away with a 9 – 0 win over Tri-Valley.

Putting the loss behind them the Lady Dawgs went on to face Crooksville on Thursday night on the road. Ready to show that they would not lay down, the girls took a quick lead with a two-run homer from Ally Peterson, followed by another home run by Raegan Smith at the next at-bat. #2 Falon Wolford singled with a hit to center only to be brought home by another two-run homer from Paiton Murphy to wrap up the scoring for the top half of the inning, but not before taking a 5 – 0 lead.

The Scottie girls came back for more in the top of the third inning Raegan Smith hit another home run to left field. Falon Wolford scored on a sacrifice fly from Paiton Murphy to left field and that popped Tri-Valley’s lead up to 7 – 0.

The top of the fourth inning brought more runs from the Scottie hitters as Paxson scored on a single hit by Rapol who then scored on a single hit by Peterson. Caity Journey scored on an error to bring the lead boost to 10 – 0 for the Lady Dawgs. Peterson was brought home by a single hit by Raegan Murphy. Murphy walks across home base after her teammate Katelyn Paxson was hit by a pitch and that finished top of the inning scoring with TV at 12 – Crooksville at 0.

Raegan Murphy brought home Olivia Rapol on a sacrifice fly early in the top of the fifth inning, and on the very next at-bat, Falon Wolford smacks a two-run homer into center field to bring in #11 Delaney Bell and herself. #4 Gabby French rounds out the Scotties scoring as she makes the 16th run on a single hit by Paxson.

Crooksville rallied back with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning but they could not catch up and the Lady Dawgs walked away with a 16 – 3 victory.
