On Wednesday, May 10, and Thursday, May 11, 2023, Zane State College’s Commencement festivities will take place at Secrest Auditorium, 334 Shinnick St., Zanesville, OH, 43701.
Following student rehearsal on Wednesday, May 10, the Grill and Chill Grad Picnic will kick off around 4:30 p.m. in the parking lot at Secrest Auditorium. The Zane State College Foundation will host this rain-or-shine event. The campus will be closing at 4 p.m. so the campus community can enjoy this event.
A few things to expect at the Grill and Chill Grad Picnic:
- A celebratory meal exclusively for graduates.
- Cap decorating for Commencement that takes place on the following day.
- Representatives from throughout campus will have designated spaces at the picnic.
- ZSC Alumni t-shirt sale.
- Graduates who received a Zane State College scholarship and maintained the award in good standing will receive a medallion to wear on the zipper of their graduation gown at Commencement.
On Thursday, May 11, at 6 p.m., 246 graduates will be recognized at the Commencement ceremony. Graduates and their ticket-holding guests are invited to attend the ceremony. Bailey Sanders, Occupational Therapy Assistant ’20, is the Commencement speaker. The evening celebration will feature violin and keyboard duets performed by Music Director and Conductor of the Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra, Dr. Laura E. Schumann, and Sheryl Wise. Zane State College 2010 Alumnus Stephen Morrison will sing the Alma Mater and National Anthem. A Facebook Live Stream, produced by the College’s Digital Content Media Technology Program, will be aired for family and friends unable to attend. Visit zanestate.edu/grad for details.
