Dorados Battled It Out With Moundbuilders On Their Way To The TCAL Championships

The Dresden Swim Center was hopping on Saturday, July 8th, as the Moundbuilders Country Club Piranhas made their way poolside to the rescheduled faceoff with the Dresden Dorados. The Piranhas started off strong winning the first two events.

The Dorados Girls 9 – 10 100yd Medley Relay team of Jess Phipps (9), Madison Dougherty (8), Ruby McCoy (9), and Ashlynn Lewellen (10) grabbed first place with a time of 1:40.62. The boys team of Kendrick Kimble (9), Kamden Buckner (10), Creed Fuhriman (10), and Ammon Martin (10) swam in at second place in the Boys 9 – 10 100yd Medley Relay with a time of 1:37.94.

In the Girls 11 – 12 200yd Medley Relay, the Dorados got another top ranking when the team of Stella Fuhriman (12), Annie Olinger (12), Lydia Collet (12), and Kylie Martin (12), swam past the Piranhas with a time of 2:35.50.

Leila Hawk (14), Nora Dillehay (13), Riley Gottardi (14), and Lily Grewell (14) received top marks for the Dorados in the Girls 13 – 14 200yd Medley Relay with a time of 2:16.78. Likewise, For the Women 15 – 18 200yd Medley Relay, the team of Britany Hammond (15), Dani Stewart (16), Gabby Hensel (16), and Kendyll Buckner (16) took first with a time of 2:25.75.

The Dorados made a clean sweep of the first and second place in the Men’s 15 – 18 200yd Medley Relay with the team of Tanner Mohler (13), Owen Harney (15), Gabe Lentz (18), and Avery Stewart (13), topped the chart with a time of 2:10.00 as teammates Caden Blake (15), Tyler Mohler (15), Kollin Buckner (14), and Aiden Lentz (15) swam in at a time of 2:14.34.

Kendrick Kimble (9) swam in second place for the Boys 9 – 10 100yd Individual Medley with a time of 2:35.84.

Kylie Martin (12) and Camryn Cunningham (12) grabbed second and third place in the Girls 11 – 12 100yd Individual Medley with times of 1:38.04, and 1:42.20 in order.

For the Girls 13 – 14 100yd Individual Medley, Leila Hawk (14) swam in first with a time of 1:10.78 while teammates Nora Dillehay (13) and Ginger Blagg (13) placed third and fourth respectively in the event.

Next up in the Boys 13 – 14 100yd Individual Medley, Kollin Buckner (14), and Avery Stewart (13) swam in at second and third places with times of 1:17.44 and 1:31.46.

Dani Stewart (16), and Gabby Hensel (16) took the top two places in the Women 15 – 18 100yd Individual Medley with times of 1:16.09 and 1:24.73.

For the Men’s 15 – 18 100yd Individual Medley, Tyler Mohler (15) got first with a time of 1:03.84 and his teammate Owen Harney (15) took second with a time of 1:17.47.

Seven-year-old Carter Cunningham swam in at second place in the Boys 7 – 8 25yd Freestyle with a time of 22.25.

Creed Fuhriman (10) was the first-place winner in the Boys 9 – 10 25yd Freestyle with a time of 14.69. Likewise, Tyler Mohler (15) was the first swimmer to the finish in the Men 15 – 18 50yd Freestyle with a time of 24.41.

The triple-threat of Lydia Collet (12), Stella Fuhriman (12), and Annie Olinger (12), cleaned up the competition in the Girls 11 – 12 50yd Freestyle with times of 30.65, 31.97, and 35.50, respectively.

Riley Gottardi (14) outswam the Piranhas in the Girls 13 – 14 50yd Freestyle with a time of 29.50.

In the Boy’s 13 – 14 50yd Freestyle, Tanner Mohler (13) took first place with a time of 27.13 and teammate Kollin Buckner (14) swam in second place with a time of 27.72.

The Boy’s 9 – 10 50yd Freestyle saw Creen Fuhriman (10) take first place with a time of 31.84, while the Women’s 15 – 18 100yd Freestyle had Leila Hawk (14) in first with a time of 1:02.22 with teammates Gabby Hensel (16), Britany Hammond (15), and Addy Miller (15) close behind.

Carter Cunningham (7) and Matt Smith (8) stood in the top two podium positions in the Boy’s 7 – 8 25yd Backstroke with times of 30.56, and 31.75. Ruby McCoy (9) was the top placer in the Girls 9 – 10 25yd Backstroke with a time of 21.28.

Once again at the top was Creed Fuhriman (10) with a time of 20.10 in the Boy’s 9 – 10 25yd Backstroke. Stella Fuhriman (12) took the same position in the Girl’s 11 – 12 50yd Backstroke with a time of 36.00. Riley Gottardi (14) swam in at a time of 35.28 in the Girl’s 13 – 14 50yd Backstroke to beat the competition.

Tanner Mohler (13) had the fastest time of 29.88 in the Boys 13 – 14 50yd Backstroke for the Dorados, while Britany Hammond (15) had a top performance in the Women’s 15 – 18 100yd Backstroke with a time of 1:22.63.

Eight-year-old Madison Dougherty swam in at time of 28.41 in the Girl’s 8 & Under 25yd Breaststroke to win.

Lydia Collet (12), Camryn Cunningham (12), Annie Olinger (12), and Kylie Martin (12), swooped up all of the points in the Girl’s 11 – 12 50yd Breaststroke as they took all of the top spots with times of 40.19, 45.62, 45.91, and 47.62 respectively.

The top swimmer in the Girl’s 13 – 14 50yd Breaststroke was Dorado’s own Lily Grewell (14) with a time of 37.31.

For the Women’s 15 – 18 100yd Breaststroke the Dorados took first through fourth place with Leila Hawk (14) at 1:19.28, Dani Stewart (16) at 1:23.50, Kendyll Buckner (16) at 1:43.56, and Addy Miller (15) at 1:54.23.

In the Men’s 15 – 18 100yd Breaststroke Tyler Mohler (15) took first place with a time of 1:10.82, while teammates Gabe Lentz and Owen Harney took second and third places.

Henry Nicholson (8) was the top swimmer in the Boy’s 8 & Under 25yd Butterfly with a time of 28.94.

The Girls 11 – 12 50yd Butterfly was dominated by the Dorados crew of Lydia Collet (12) with a time of 36.22, Annie Olinger (12) with a time of 46.28, Abby Hensel (12) with a time of 49.12, and Kylie Martin (12) with a time of 49.37.

Riley Gottardi (14) with a time of 31.81, and Lily Grewell (14) with a time of 33.00, were the first and second-place swimmers in the Girl’s 13 – 14 50yd Butterfly. Tanner Mohler (13) grabbed first in the Boy’s 13 – 14 50yd Butterfly, with a time of 30.75.

The team of Kamden Buckner (10), Hank Matchett (9), Kendrick Kimble (9), and Creed Fuhriman (10) were the fastest group in the Boys 9 – 10 100yd Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:33.25.

The Girl’s 11 – 12 200yd Freestyle Relay had the team of Stella Fuhriman (12), Camryn Cunningham (12), Kylie Martin (12), and Lydia Collet (12) in the top spot with a time of 2:16.06.

Just like the younger team, the Girl’s 13 – 14 200yd Freestyle Relay was taken by the team of Leila Hawk (14), Nora Dillehay (13), Lily Grewell (14), and Riley Gottardi (14) with a time of 2:06.37.

In the Women’s 15 – 18 200yd Freestyle Relay, the team of Britany Hammond (15), Kendyll Buckner (16), Dani Stewart (16), and Gabby Hensel (16) were the fastest swimmers with a time of 2:10.53.

Kollin Buckner (14), Caden Blake (15), Avery Stewart (13), and Tyler Mohler (15), were the top team in the Men’s 15 – 18 200yd Freestyle Relay.

The Dorados will be competing in the 2023 TCAL Championships on Tuesday, July 18th, at the Dresden Swim Center, with a start time of 7:45AM.
