The SEOWV YMCA Swim League is a competitive swim league consisting of 24 teams and nearly 2100 swimmers from Southeast Ohio and West Virginia.
The Zanesville “YMegs” swim team just wrapped up their inaugural season. Right out of the gate, this fledgling team is showing a lot of promise with some of the high scores they received at the SEOWV 2023 LC Senior and Junior Championships.
The relay team of Addison Durst, Bryan Jiang, Gracie Rush, and Danny Jiang took the top position in the 19 & Under Mixed 400-yard Free Relay with a time of 5:54.69.
For the Mixed 13 – 14 200-yard Medley Relay, the team of Addison Durst, Leila Hawk, Savannah Brooks, and Nora Dillehay took the second-place mark with a time of 2:54.29, while teammates Bryan Jiang, Danny Jiang, Gracie Rush, and Ryleigh Crooks grabbed the first place spot with a time of 2:38.58.
Ryleigh Crooks, Nora Dillehay, Savannah Brooks, and Leila Hawk got second place in the 19 & Under 400 yard Mixed Free Relay with a time of 5:06.60. Likewise in the 13 – 14 200 yard Mixed Free Relay the team of Savannah Brooks, Addison Durst, Nora Dillehay, and Leila Hawk swam in at second with a time of 2:29.57.
Savannah Brooks took first place in the Women’s 13 – 14 50-yard Back Stroke with a time of 39.68, she also grabbed fourth place in the Women’s 13 – 14 100-yard Freestyle with a time of 1:16.01. Brooks went on to place third in the Women’s 13 – 14 100-yard Breast Stroke with a time of 1:41.38, and second in the Women’s 13 – 14 100-yard Back Stroke with a time of 1:29.27.
Ryleigh Crooks achievements at the Senior Championship included; second place in the Women’s 15 – 19 100-yard Freestyle with a time of 1:11.76, first place in the Women’s 15 – 19 100-yard Breast Stroke at 1:31.96, second place in the Women’s 15 – 19 200 yard IM with a time of 2:58.27, second place in the Women’s 15 – 19 100 yard Butterfly at 1:22.04, and first place in the Women’s 15 – 19 100 yard Back Stroke with a time of 1:23.03.
Nora Dillehay accomplished the following; third place in the Women’s 13 – 14 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 36.97, second place in the Women’s 13 – 14 50-yard Breast Stroke with a time of 48.22, another second-place finish in the Women’s 13 – 14 50 yard Butterfly with a time of 44.86, fifth place in the Women’s 13 – 14 100 yard Breaststroke at 1:52.13, and fourth place in the Mixed Open 200 yard Breaststroke with 3:57.09 finishing time.
Addison Durst had the following showing at the championship; placed ninth in the Women’s 13 – 14 100-yard Freestyle at a time of 1:33.89, placed seventh in the Women’s 13 – 14 100-yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:03.54, placed fifth in the Women’s 13 – 14 50 yard Freestyle at 41.68, and grabbed fourth place in the Women’s 13 – 14 100 yard Butterfly with a time of 1:58.99.
Leila Hawk had these top scores; she took first place in the Women’s 13 – 14 100-yard Freestyle with the fastest time of 1:12.88, second place in the Women’s 13 – 14 100-yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:36.96, another top podium position in the Women’s 13 – 14 200 yard IM with a 3:00.14 finishing time, first in the Women’s 13 – 14 100 yard Backstroke with the time of 1:23.86, and finally first place in the Women’s 13 – 14 50 yard Freestyle with a time of 32.56.
Bryan Jiang took these top spots for the boys; first place in the Boy’s 11 – 12 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 37.67, first place in the Boy’s 11 – 12 50 yard Breaststroke with a time of 48.93, first place in the Boy’s 11 – 12 50 yard Backstroke with a time of 45.23, another first place in the Boy’s 11 – 12 100 yard Breaststroke 1:49.51, and a third-place finish in the Boy’s 11 – 12 400 yard Freestyle with the time of 6:48.09.
Danny Jiang had the following results; third place in the Men’s 13 – 14 100-yard Freestyle with a time of 1:26.10, second place with a time of 41.67 in the Men’s 13 – 14 50 yard Butterfly, another second place in the Men’s 13 – 14 100 yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:45.67, fourth place in the Men’s 13 – 14 50 yard Freestyle with the time of 37.40, and third in the Men’s 200-yard Freestyle with the time of 3:06.37.
Gracie Rush grabbed a fourth-place finish in the Women’s 13 – 14 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 41.64, a fifth-place finish in the Women’s 13 – 14 100-yard Butterfly with a time of 2:06.06, and an eighth-place finish within the Women’s 13 – 14 100 yard Freestyle and 100-yard Breaststroke with the times of 1:30.31 and 2:03.72 respectively, finally, she got a seventh-place finish in the Women’s 13 – 14 200 yard IM with a 3:56.30 finish.
Brody Tutle got second place in the Men’s 13 – 14 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 33.00, third place in the Men’s 13 – 14 50-yard Breaststroke with a 49.08 finish, and first place with a time of 1:31.91 in the Men’s 13 – 14 100 yard Backstroke.
For the junior swim squad, Henry Nicholson won first place in the Boy’s 5 – 8 25-yard Freestyle with a 22.13, first place in the Boy’s 5 – 8 25-yard Butterfly with a 29.43, first in the Boy’s 50-yard Freestyle with a 56.12 finish, and second place in the Boy’s 5 – 8 25 yard Backstroke with a 37.33 finishing time.
Max Ricano swam into second place in the Boy’s 9 – 10 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 44.85, fourth place in the Boy’s 9 – 10 50-yard Backstroke with a 59.61 finish, and finally, a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:07.76 in the Boy’s 9 – 10 50 yard Breaststroke.
Robby Wayne got a fourth-place finish in the Boy’s 9 – 10 50-yard Freestyle with a 53.11 clock reading, and a sixth-place finish in the Boy’s 9 – 10 Backstroke finishing at 1:03.53.
The “YMegs” winter season will begin on September 9th with a parent meeting, followed by their first practice on September 11th.
