Kinney Home Art & Decor opens in Dresden

Dresden’s former Union Elementary School Building, now called Union Square, houses artistically talented entrepreneurs and boutiques. The latest to add her unique offerings to the historic establishment is Veda Kinney, owner of Kinney Home Art & Decor.

The shop debuted the first weekend in June during the well-attended inaugural America’s Basket Festival in Dresden. Fellow shop owner, and long-time friend, Lurenda Hayes, encouraged Kinney to choose Dresden as the location for her business.

Kinney Home Art & Decor, conveniently located on the main floor of Union Square, offers a beautiful array of unique gifts, painted furniture, home decor, handcrafted wooden items by Kinney’s husband, and one-of-a-kind original artwork created by the owner herself. Additionally, Kinney offers design services and consulting, specializing in items like kitchen and bathroom cabinets, countertops, luxury vinyl flooring, wallpaper, and window treatments all available through AdvantEdge Paints & Home Decor located in Newark where Kinney works part-time as a Decor Manager. “I love to help people with their homes — working with pattern, color, and texture,” said Kinney.

Utilizing more of her talents, as a graduate of Columbus College of Art & Design, and as a professional in the paint and home decor industry for several years, Kinney wanted to branch out by opening her own shop. “Kinney Home Art & Decor was created as an opportunity for me to focus more on my art in combination with some painted furniture and home decor. My shop has both one-of-a-kind original items that I create along with items that are purchased from wholesalers to create a unique shopping experience,” explained Kinney.

Custom furniture pieces and art are also among some of the things Kinney enjoys working with her clients on.

Looking towards the future, Kinney would like to add different lines of paints, offer classes, add more artwork and get in the studio more.

Kinney Home Art & Decor is located on the main floor inside Union Square at 701 Chestnut Street, Dresden. The shop is open Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (hours are extended during the Union Square Third Thursday Market), Friday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can find Kinney Home Art & Decor on Facebook.
