The Maysville Panther boys varsity soccer team continued their trail to perfection in there so-far undefeated season when they traveled to take on Zanesville on the Blue Devils home turf.
The trip to John D. Sulsberger Memorial Stadium on Saturday, August 19th, was a fruitful one for the undefeated Maysville Panther boys varsity soccer team as they shoved past the Blue Devils defenses to bring home a 4 – 1 victory and a 3 – 0 record to start the season off right.
The first half of the game looked pretty grim for the guests as the Blue Devils kept them on their feet. Zanesville grabbed the first goal when #7 Connor Baldwin sank the ball in the net during the first period to take the lead at 1 – 0.
The second half of the game was a completely different story with the Panthers stepping onto the field with a renewed sense of determination. First to step up for Maysville was #7 Senior Drew Daniels to tie up the game at 1 – 1.
Junior Wyatt Mynes (#3) had the go-ahead goal for the Panthers as they took the lead at 2 – 1 against the Blue Devils. Goal keeper #1 Dawson Harper landed the third goal for Maysville stretching the lead to 3 – 1.
To finish off scoring for the game Wyatt Mynes kicked the ball past the defenders and into the goal for a final score of 4 – 1.
Maysville started off the season at home game against Fisher Catholic dominating the field and landing goal after goal to the tune of 8 – 2 before the game was over. The following home game against St. Clairsville was a little closer with the visitors.
The first half of the game was weighted heavily toward Zanesville winning but in the second half the Panthers came back with a vengeance as the dominated the field at John D. Sulsberger Memorial Stadium.
In the second half, the visitors grabbed three goals but it was the Panthers who came out on top again, doubling their opponents score and taking the win with a score of 6 – 3.
Maysville will be traveling to New Lexington to take on the other Panthers in a battle of the wildcats on Saturday, August 26th, and they will meet up with the Coshocton Redskins back at their home field on Tuesday, August 29th.
With a current 100% win record they are currently sitting atop the MVL and are hoping to stay their as they work their way through a tough schedule of opponents.
