Under the guidance of head coach Jeff Moody and assistant coach Eric Baldwin the Zanesville girls tennis team has been hard at work. After taking a hit from Dover on Wednesday, September 13th, they came back swinging to beat Franklin Heights.
For the Dover matchup in singles play, Taylor Rose defeated Zanesville’s Kamrie Simon 6 – 1 , 6 – 1. Abby Ice went 6 – 3, 6 – 4 over Chloe Buchanan. Bekah Dorris defeated Jersey Nutter 6 – 3 , 6 – 3. In doubles, Dover’s Avery Contini and Morgan Huston took down Blair Lowe and Ava Puterbaugh 6 – 1, 6 – 0. Hallie Lint and Bella Maize over Jazirah Spencer and Makayla Sammons by a score of 6 – 2, 6 – 2.
On the road at Franklin Heights the girls turned it around with a 5 – 0 win. In singles Kamrie Simon overtook Satonata Bah by 6 – 1, 6 – 7, 6 – 3. Chloe Buchanan defeated Nadya Gaba 6 – 1, 6 – 4. Jersey Nutter over Trista Roble 6 – 0, 6 – 1. In doubles Blair Lowe and Ava Puterbaugh downed Anna Gonzales, and Anya Ramirez 7 – 5, 6 – 7, 10 – 4 in a Super Tiebreaker. Jazzy Spencer and Ryleigh McComb topped Julia Jimka and Buzia Ahmand 4 – 6, 6 – 4, 6 – 3.
Also the ZHS JV. Teams Scored a 5-0 Victory with wins by Makayla Sammons, Hope Blackford, Kelly Morris, Tru Campbell , in doubles, and Bella Kehl won her JV. Match in singles play.
