Maysville Panthers Hoping To Pick Up The Pieces After Two Losses

The Maysville High School Panthers are practicing hard to try to keep from having another repeat performance against Sheridan on Friday, October 6th in Thornville, Ohio.

On Friday, September 22nd, Maysville hosted their neighboring team the West Muskingum Tornadoes in what turned out to be a whirlwind of scoring by the Tornadoes own Rashid Sesay.

In the first quarter of the game alone, West M had racked up a whopping 21 – 0 lead and showed no signs of slowing down. The Panthers tried to lock onto their opponents but with just three minutes to go in the half #3 Rashid Sesay grabbed a pass and took it in for a touchdown bumping their lead up to 28 – 0 after the PAT.

With just under a minute to go in the first half the Tornadoes cleared another path to the end zone to set the score at 35 – 0 against Maysville and to ensure a running clock when the second half began play.

The third quarter saw Sesay take another 5-yard touchdown run with just three minutes to go in the third quarter, and landed the score at 42 – 0 after the extra point. That score was the final for the game and with the running clock it didn’t allow much time for Maysville to makeup any points.

Moving on to their next game against conference foes New Concord’s John Glenn Lil’ Muskies, the Panthers were wanting to gain some ground. The game was a very close contest, Maysville grabbed the lead in the 2nd quarter off of a 20-yard touchdown run.

By the second half both teams were tied at 7 points each, with neither one backing down. It wasn’t until the last minute in overtime that John Glenn squeezed out a field goal kick to take the final score of 10 – 7 and walk away with the win.

On Friday, October 6th, the Panthers travel to Thornville to face the 7-0 Sheridan Generals, gametime is 7pm.
