On Wednesday, September 27th, the Zanesville Blue Devils hosted the Licking Heights Hornets. The game started off with both teams fighting and gaining possession of the ball but no one scoring for the entire first half of the game on a wet John D. Sulsberger field.
The second half of the game was won by Zanesville with a goal early on from #20 Garrett McMillion setting the game total to 1 – 0 Zanesville.
The Blue Devils moved on to host the Morgan Raiders on their home field. In yet another shutout for Zanesville they took the game by force with a 2 – 0 lead in the first half of gameplay followed by a 1 – 0 second half leaving the Raiders empty-handed.
The boys hopped on the bus Monday, October 2nd to head to Thornville for a match against the Sheridan Generals. The two teams went almost toe to toe on the first half of the game but Zanesville edged out Sheridan with 3 – 2 to end the first half of play.
Coming onto the field after halftime, the Blue Devils not letting up with a forceful finish they gained two more goals while shutting out the Generals to win the game 5 – 2.
The Zanesville Blue Devils head to Cambridge for a non-conference matchup on Saturday, October 7th.
