Zanesville High School Marching Band hosts 60th Bonanza of Bands competition

The 60th Bonanza of Bands competition was held on September 23 at Zanesville High School in Zanesville, Ohio. The five-hour competition started at 5:00 P.M. Fourteen marching bands performed, and of these were Coshocton, Philo, Trimble Local, St Clairsville, Highland, Meadowbrook, Cambridge, Ridgewood, Tri-Valley, Berne Union, Newark, Hilliard Darby, Dublin Jerome, and Zanesville.

After each band performed, awards for classes C, B, A, and AA were given out. Class C Outstanding Auxiliary went to Philo High School Marching Band, and they were awarded for Class C Outstanding Percussion as well. Third place for Class C went to Trimble Local Marching Band, while second place was awarded to Coshocton High School Marching Band, and Philo High School Marching Band earned first. St Clairsville High School won Class B Outstanding Auxiliary, and Meadowbrook High School Marching Band was awarded Outstanding Percussion. Fifth place for Class B went to Cambridge High School Marching Band, Meadowbrook High School Marching Band earned fourth, third was awarded to Ridgewood Marching Band, second went to Highland High School, and St Clairsville HS won first place. Tri-Valley Marching Band earned Class A Outstanding Auxiliary, and Outstanding Percussion went to Berne Union High School. Second place for Class A was awarded to Tri-Valley Marching Band, and Berne Union High School earned First place. For Class AA, Dublin Jerome High School Marching Band earned both Outstanding Auxiliary and Outstanding Percussion. Third place for Class AA was awarded to Pride of Newark, second went to Dublin Jerome High School Marching Band, and Hilliard Darby High School Marching Band won first.

After giving out the awards for each class, The judges chose overall grand champions for Classes A and AA, and B and C. The overall grand champion of Class B and C was St Clairsville HS. Hilliard Darby High School Marching Band was the overall grand champion of Class A and AA.

The bands that are moving on to state finals are Philo High School Marching Band, St Clairesville HS, Tri-Valley Marching Band, Berne Union High School, Pride of Newark, Hilliard Darby High School Marching Band, and Dublin Jerome High School Marching Band.

The next competition scheduled to be held in Muskingum County is the Tri-Valley Classic. The Classic will take place at Jack Anderson Stadium on Saturday, October 21.
