Local high school marching bands perform at OMEA State Finals following Tri-Valley Classic

Music filled Jack Anderson Stadium during the 2023 Tri-Valley Classic. Sixteen high school bands came to compete for Dresden’s biggest night in music including Crooksville, Shenandoah, Philo, Morgan, Meadowbrook, Licking Valley, Maysville, River View, John Glenn, St. Clairsville, Zanesville, Point Pleasant, Dublin Scioto, Hilliard Davidson, Central Crossing and of course the host for the evening Tri-Valley performed as well.

Five of the sixteen bands in attendance are from Muskingum County including Philo (Class C), Maysville (Class B), John Glenn (Class C), Zanesville (Class A), and Tri-Valley (Class A). Philo received first place for Class C, first place for Class C Percussion, and first place for Class C Auxiliary. Fourth place Class B was awarded to Maysville, third place for Class B went to John Glenn, and second place for Class A went to Zanesville. Since Tri-Valley hosted they could only receive an overall rating which resulted in a Superior.

Besides Tri-Valley who is celebrating their 41st consecutive year competing at the OMEA State Finals, three other Muskingum County bands qualified to compete at the state level including Philo, John Glenn, and Maysville. TV and Philo competed on Saturday, October 28 at Hilliard Bradley High School and both received a 1 superior rating in their class. It is Maysville and John Glenn’s turn this Sunday, November 5th as both bands are set to compete during the final day of competitions at Piqua High School.
