Muskingum County Community Foundation Announces 2023 Fall Grant winners

Earlier this month, the Muskingum County Community Foundation (MCCF) announced the seven organizations that won the 2023 MCCF Fall Grant Competition. The winners were chosen after the Distribution Committee for MCCF reviewed grant requests and the Board of Trustees voted and approved that capital improvement grants be awarded.

The 2023 Fall Grant winners are Big Brothers Big Sisters of Zanesville, Breaking Free Therapeutic Riding Center, Eastside Community Ministry, FoodWorks Alliance, GoodCity Creatives, Muskingum County Library System, and PAWS of Muskingum County. Collectively, $50,000 was awarded for this grant period.

“We are extremely pleased with this fall grant cycle with several great projects from local groups. It was tough for the committee to decide,” said MCCF CEO Brian Wagner. “The seven that were selected rose to the top, but a lot of wonderful ideas were submitted.”

The opportunity is open annually to nonprofit organizations. This was the third year for the Fall Grant Competition which was made possible through fundraising efforts through MCCF-hosted activities leading up to the competition. Recipients from this year and the past two years have all been chosen because of their vision for the future of the community they serve and the enhancement of the quality of life in Muskingum County they provide.

The upcoming Groundhog Day Celebration is one of many activities and events hosted by MCCF that help to raise funds for grant competitions. The event is scheduled for Friday, January 26, 2024, and will be held at the Zane State College Campus Center. Those planning to attend can purchase tickets online as soon as early December.

Over $1.5 million in MCCF awards are presented each year to deserving organizations and individuals within the community in the form of grants and scholarships. The foundation was founded in 1985. Today, MCCF houses more than 340 funds and scholarships. MCCF’s mission is to improve the quality of life in the community by serving needs and nurturing collaboration and philanthropy.
