With a dominating season and more than one player in the backfield that is nearly impossible to stop, the Tornadoes found their breaking point on Friday, November 3rd, when they made the trip to Canal Winchester to face the Harvest Prep Warriors who also had a 10-1 record overall going into the game. West M was unbeaten in the MVL small-school standings and they were hoping to continue in the playoff series.
The two teams spent time getting to know each other’s plays and tells as they battled out the entire first quarter with no score. The Warriors were the first to light up the scoreboard just a few minutes into the second quarter as they connected on a 20-yard touchdown but missed on the two-point conversion to take the lead at 6 – 0. The lead would hold all the way to the end of the first half.
After halftime, the Warriors continued their raid on the Tornadoes ringing in two more touchdowns in the quarter each time attempting the two-point conversion and each time getting shut down by the West Muskingum defense. By the end of the third quarter Harvest Prep was ahead of the Tornadoes by a stretch of 18 – 0.
The Tornadoes tried to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter but were shut out completely by the Warriors’ defense and Harvest Prep added on one more touchdown while missing the extra point one last time to cap the scoring for the game and take the nod forward in the playoff schedule with the 24 – 0 victory.
