Local track teams take top marks at two area meets

Dan Adams Memorial Track Invite at Muskingum University (4/26)

Twelve teams from all over Ohio converged on the Muskingum University Bullock Health and Wellness Complex for the Dan Adams Memorial Track Invite on Friday to compete in thirty-four events.  

Boys Teams

West Muskingum’s Lane Kennedy took second place in the first event which was the Boys 100 Meter Dash with a time of 11.30.  Kennedy also took third place in the Boys 200 Meter Dash with a time of 23.02.  John Glenn’s Cameron House picked up fourth place in the Boys 400 Meter Dash with a time of 53.02.  Caiden Lake grabbed sixth place in the Boys 1600 Meter Run for John Glenn.  The Lil’ Muskie’s Cash Smith also got fourth place in the Boys 110 Meter Hurdles followed by teammate Cameron Barnhouse in sixth.  

Dustin Brown from West Muskingum took third place in the Boys 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 42.50.  Tri-Valley’s Lucca Gargasz tied for second place in the Boys High Jump with a mark of 5-11.00 with teammate Steyr Rognon taking tying for fourth place.  Colten Rollison grabbed third place for Tri-Valley in the Boys Long Jump with a mark of 19-03.00 while Maysvilles Matt Harper got fourth place.  Alex Smith came in at second place for John Glenn in the Boys Pole Vault with a mark of 12-07.00.  Grayden Matthews won fourth place for Tri-Valley in the same event.

Tri-Valley’s Micah Shupert came out in fourth place for the Boys Discus with a mark of 135-05.00 while John Glenn’s Jimmy Boyd took sixth.  The Scottie’s Chris Gargasz came in third place in Boys Shot Put with a mark of 47-08.00

Girls Teams

Jessica Church took second place for John Glenn in the Girls 100 Meter Dash with a time of 13.08. Church also took first place in the Girls 200 Meter Dash with a time of 26.55, and first in the Girls 400 Meter Dash with a time of 58.72.  Kira Kaiser took third for John Glenn in the Girls 800 Meter with a time of 2:28.25 followed directly by teammate Ashlynn Kuklica in fourth.  Kaiser also took second in the Girls 1600 Meter Run with a time of 5:36.41 followed by Tri-Valley’s Erin Hogue in third and teammate Brea Wilfong in fourth.  Kuklica took second in the Girls 3200 Meter Run with a time of 11:54.00 followed by Tri-Valley’s Taylor Crozier in third.

Ava Hoffman grabbed fourth place for the Lil’ Muskies in the Girls High Jump with a mark of 5-02.00.  Teammate Brayden Snider took third in the Girls Long Jump with a mark of 16-02.00.  Snider also came in first in the Girls Pole Vault with a mark of 11-07.00 with teammate Brooklyn Valentine taking fourth in the same event.

Bella Van Wey of Maysville came in first in Girls Shot Put with a mark of 38-00.00. Followed by Tri-Valley’s Mackenzie Harvey who finished second, and John Glenn’s Chelsea Sotherden who finished third.

Tri-Valley Tri-Meet (4/23)

Teams from Duncan Falls (Philo), Warsaw (River View), and Dresden (Tri-Valley) were all present at the Fred Graham Track and Field Complex in Dresden on Tuesday.  There were over thirty events for the evening starting with the Boys 100 Meter Dash where Philo’s Jacob Savage took 4th place with a time of 12.04 followed closely by Tri-Valley’s Isaiah Doyle at fifth place with teammate Caleb Mummey-Holliday taking sixth place.  

Boys Teams

For the Boys 200-meter dash Caleb Mummey Holliday took second place for Tri-Valley with a time of 25.77 followed by teammate Luke Stanger at fifth place.  Colten Rollison ran in for a first-place finish in the Boys 400 Meter Dash followed directly by teammates Caden Wasson, Tanner Newton, and Cody Reed in second, third, and fourth places respectively.

Tri-Valley’s William Dearing ran the Boys 800 Meter Run in 2:21.39 earning him a second-place finish followed by Philo’s Hudson Howard in fourth place and Hunter Hlad in fifth.  Ryan Morris won first place for Philo in the Boys 1600 Meter Run with a time of 5:05.41, with Tri-Valley’s Alexander Hogue taking second place followed by teammate Nathan Hustey in fifth.

Morris also took first place in the Boys 3200 Meter Run with a time of 11:30.62 with Tri-Valley’s Dalton Crozier and Nathan Hustey following in second and third places respectively.

Deacon Scott from Philo was the first-place finisher in the Boys 110 Meter Hurdles with a time of 15.39 along with his teammate Alex Evans in a close second followed by Tri-Valley’s Steyr Rognon in third place.  Evans took first place in the Boys 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 42.97 followed by Rognon at second place.

Philo’s Aidan Mahon had the top spot in Boys High Jump with a mark of 6-04.00 followed in second and third places by Tri-Valley’s Lucca Gargasz and Steyr Rognon.  Gargasz took first place in the Boys Long Jump with a mark of 19-08.50 followed by teammates Colten Rollison and Isaiah Doyle in second and third places.

Boys Pole Vault was won by Tri-Valley’s Grayden Matthews with a mark of 10-00.00 followed in second place by teammate Hayden Stevens and third place went to Philo’s Jacob Savage.

Chris Gargasz from Tri-Valley took first in the Boys Discus with a mark of 156-04.00 with teammate Micah Shupert taking second place and Philo’s Tyler Looker taking third.  Gargasz also took first in the Boys Shot Put with a mark of 47-05.00 followed directly by teammates Micah Shupert, Aston Winner, Gavin Spiker, and Talan Kinney.

Girls Teams

For the Girls 100 Meter Dash Lady Electric’s Halli Harris ran in first at a time of 13.05 followed by Tri-Valley’s Katherine Martin at second.  Taylor Crozier was the second-place finisher for the Girls 200 Meter Dash with a time of 28.60 for Tri-Valley.  Crozier took first place for the Girls 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1:03.94 followed by teammates Braylie Burkey and Emily Tezen in second and third.  

Girls 800 Meter Run was won by Tri-Valley’s Erin Hogue with a time of 2:32.47.  Philo’s Jenna Lytton won the Girls 1600 Meter Run with a time of 6:20.68.  Lytton also took the top spot in the Girls 3200 Meter Run with a time of 13:45.42.

Girls 100 Meter Hurdles saw Philo’s Makenna Staker take second place with a time of 17.96 followed directly by Tri-Valley’s Alexis Sims, Gabriella Matz, and Landyn Andrews.  Staker was the top scorer in the Girls 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 51.40 followed in third and fourth places respectively by Sims and Tri-Valley’s Peyton Mills.

The Girls High Jump had Tri-Valley’s Gabriella Matz take first place with a mark of 5-00.00 followed by Philo’s Avery Mahon in third place.  Halli Harris took first for Philo in the Girls Long Jump with a mark of 15-09.00 with her teammate Emily Stockdale taking third place.

Delylah Boetcher took a second-place finish for Philo in the Girls Pole Vault with a mark of 7-06.00.  Tri-Valley’s Mackenzie Harvey took first in the Girls Discus with a mark of 116-01.00 followed by teammates Addison Durst, Emma Yeager, and Gillian Hockenberry in second through fourth respectively.  Harvey also took first in the Girls Shot Put with a mark of 34-00.50 followed by Hockenberry.
