First Friday Art Walks continue to highlight an array of artistic talent in Zanesville

If you have not had a chance to attend one of the First Friday Art CoZ Art Walks in Downtown Zanesville’s art district you absolutely need to! There is so much talent in the area spanning a broad range of mediums and that is celebrated and showcased on the First Friday of the month in a spectacular way.

Beverly Jones embellishes a hat in her shop on Main Street called Glammed during the First Friday Art Walk. The shop is next to Nicole’s on Main Hair Salon. You can find the boutique at 534 Main St, Zanesville.

There are 16 art studios/galleries open and additional artists set up outside during the walks within the district. Many restaurants and small businesses are also open during the monthly event making first Fridays the perfect night out on the town!

Participating galleries and studios include; Y-Bridge Cultural Arts Center (features 12 artists – 8 Main St.), The Art Loft (features 4 artists – 26 N. 3rd St.), The Elk’s Eye Market (features 30 artists – 22 S. 4th St.), Felumlee’s Timeless Treasures (524 Main St.), The Rustic Farmhouse (65 S. 6th St.), Merit Gallery (24 S. 6th St.), Yan Sun Art Museum (604 Main St.), BunkoJess Gallery (featuring 7 artists – 126 Muskingum Ave.), Girl Upcycled (126 Muskingum Ave.), Alan Cottrill Sculpture (110 S. 6th St.), Julie’s Artery (53 S. 7th St.), Ron Cole & Cole’s Aircraft Aviation Art (616 Main St.), Paul Emory Art Studio (621 Rear Main St.), ZAAP Gallery (625 Main St.), Kristen Leigh Brown Art Studio (605 Market St. Ste. 1).

Each month new exhibitions and artists are introduced. There was so much to experience at June’s Art Walk! Featured artist of the month, Paula Lively, a professional photographer from Zanesville could be seen at Cole’s Aircraft Aviation Art gallery. The Yan Sun Art Museum and Gallery had a special exhibition “Summer Celebration of Art”. At the Bunko Jess Gallery attendees were treated to The Miniature Show. Debbie Beckert, a painter, was the guest artist at the ArtLoft.

The next Art Walk is on July 6 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more information be sure to visit artcoz.org. Also, mark your calendar for the Y-Bridge Arts Festival scheduled to take place on August 2nd beginning at 2 p.m. and closing at dark. It will reopen from 11 a.m. until dark on August 3rd. The festival will feature over 70 artists, musicians, and dance groups all set up around and inside the Welcome Center. The deadline for artists to register to participate is June 30.
