The season is looking bright for the Zanesville Junior Pioneers as they stand 5 – 1.

Vs Chillicothe Paints doubleheader (6/9)

The Junior Pioneers headed to Chillicothe on Sunday to face the Paints and came out on the other side with a quick sweep for the doubleheader leaving the Paints dusted in game one with a score of 6 – 1.  Game two had given the Junior Pioneers time to warm up their bats and they took the game with a commanding score of 14 – 5.

Vs Newark Bisons (6/6) 

The Bisons were the first up to the plate at Gant Stadium on Thursday as they faced the Junior Pioneers.  The visitors almost got through the first inning without a score, but Underwood singled with a hard grounder to center field bringing in Clouse and Starkey to be the first on the scoreboard with a 2 – 0 lead.  In the bottom of the first inning, Brody Hammersly hit a line drive to right field to bring home Tobie Teke.  Shortly after that play, Max Coffman got walked forcing home Ryan Swarts for the tying run.  Hammersly scored a little while later on a single by Noah Blecha, and Aiden Reis scored on the throw giving the Pioneers a 4 – 2 lead.  The Bisons tied up the game in the top of the fifth inning after both teams went without a score for three full innings, and the game remained tied until the bottom of the seventh inning when Teke singled to left sending home Caleb Campbell for the winning run, and the Bisons fell to the Junior Pioneers 5 – 4.

Vs TNT College (6/4)

The TNT baseball team showed up at the gates of Gant Stadium Tuesday ready to play ball.  After two innings both teams were at a stalemate with no runs earned.  In the bottom of the third inning, Tyler Tiedman broke the ice with a single to left field driving home Caleb Bond.  After a quick double-play, Caleb Campbell stepped up to hit a single into left field to bring in Tiedman taking a 2 – 0 lead.  The Pioneers followed it up with a run in each of the next two innings one from an error that brought in Aiden Reis for a 3 – 0 lead, and another from a walk that brought home Tiedman to set the lead at 4 – 0.  TNT came back in the top of the sixth inning to try for a rally to get back in the game but they fell short only scoring two runs and after a scoreless seventh inning the Pioneers took the 4 – 2 victory.

Vs Dayton Thunderbirds doubleheader (6/1)

On their trip to Gant Stadium Saturday, the Dayton Thunderbirds 2024 18O team thought they would be able to blow through town for a quick sweep, but the Junior Pioneers had different plans.  Dayton opened the game with a quick 1 – 0 lead in the top of the first inning.  Ryan Swartz tripled on a line drive to left field driving in Tobie Teke for one.  Brody Hammersly stepped up to the plate next to hit a two-run homer into left field taking the lead 3 – 1.  

After two innings with no score, the Pioneers stepped back up to the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning with Ryan Swartz singling into left field allowing Caleb Campbell to come across the plate.  Aiden Reiss was hit by a pitch bringing in Tyler Tiedman and pushing the Pioneer’s score to 5 – 1.  In the bottom of the sixth Reis hit a single on the ground to center scoring Teke for a final score of 6 – 1 over the Thunderbirds.
