Obituary: Arthur L. Untied

Arthur L. Untied, 85, of Dresden, OH passed away peacefully Monday, July 1, 2024, after suffering many years with dementia, at Altercare of Coshocton.

Born February 11,1939 in Frazeysburg, OH, he was a son of the late Wilbur E. and Velma E. (Baughman) Untied. He was a 1957 graduate of Frazeysburg High School. Arthur and four of his brothers (Elbert, Virgil, Paul, and Gale) enlisted in the service and were known locally as “the five brothers.” He served in the Ohio National Guard for over 29 years and then worked for Tri-Valley Local Schools where he was supervisor of the bus garage for several years. Arthur also drove the bus for many school events, including driving the Scotties Marching band equipment bus to football games and competitions until he retired.

Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Ruth Ann (Hahn) Untied whom he married June 30, 1962; three children James “Jim” (Susan) Untied, Leland “Eugene” Untied, and Rhonda (John Cannon) Holdren; twelve grandchildren, Vanessa (Clark) Hartrum, Justin (Kelsey) Untied, Brandon Untied, Janessa Untied, Charles Untied, Joseph Untied, Ryan (Brianna) Untied , Cameron Untied, Anthony Untied, Kalyn (Charles) Wisecarver, Breanna Untied, and Dalton Holdren; 14 great grandchildren; one brother, Virgil (Sandy) Untied and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by four brothers Elbert, Kerney, Paul, and Gale and four sisters Pearl, Esther, Leona, and newborn sister Grace.

No calling hours will be observed as a caring cremation will take place. We wish to remember our loved one as he was, not what he became with dementia.
