Post 29 Senior Legion Batting Hard But Falling Short As Season Continues

Vs Pittsburgh Big Dawgs 18U (7/7)

On the road against the Pittsburgh Big Dawgs, the Zanesville Post 29 Legion team was hoping to bring home a win.  In the top of the first inning, Zanesville grabbed a run from Grandstaff who advanced due to a walk with the bases loaded, taking a 1 – 0 lead.  Pittsburgh tied up the game and landed a go-ahead run in the bottom of the third inning.  Zanesville answered back in the top of the fourth to tie the game at 2, but the Big Dawgs pumped out another run in the bottom of the inning taking a 3 – 2 lead.  Zanesville couldn’t manage to hit the scoreboard again and after Pittsburgh tacked on their fourth run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning, Zanesville was not able to recover and the game went down 4 – 2.

Vs Titans Baseball Club 18U (7/6)

Back at Gant Stadium on Saturday, the Post 29 Senior Legion hosted the Titans Baseball Club 18U.  Out of the gate, the Titans took a four-run lead in the top of the first inning off of a double by Seto, a single by McCutcheon, and a sacrifice fly by Mcauley.  Zanesville was able to pump out a couple of runs in the bottom of the second inning and another run in the bottom of the third but they still trailed by one.  The Titans wanting to keep their lead, fought for it with two runs in the top of the next two innings to take an 8 – 3 lead.  In the top of the sixth inning, the Titans added yet another run to their tally bringing the total to 9 – 3.  Not wanting to go down without a fight, Zanesville rallied in the bottom of the sixth inning for four runs but they still fell short and the Titans walked away after seven with a 9 – 7 victory.

Vs Power Baseball Club 16U (7/6)

The Power Baseball Club 16U met up with the Zanesville Post 28 Senior Legion on Saturday at Gant.  Both teams had a rough start as they went through two innings with no score, but Zanesville opened the scoring in the bottom of the third inning with a run from Watton on a sacrifice fly by Better to take a 1 – 0 lead.  Watton singled in the bottom of the next inning to drive in King, Nathan Better doubled pushing in Stambush, followed by a triple by Grandstaff to bring in Watton and Better and end the inning up 5 – 0.  Zanesville grabbed their final run for the game in the bottom of the sixth inning finalizing their score, and after seven, they took the 6 – 0 triumph over Power Baseball.

Vs Titans Baseball Club 18U (7/5)

The Titans visited Zanesville on Friday to play the Zanesville Post 29 Senior Legion.  The Titans popped out two runs in the top of the first inning taking the lead.  After holding Zanesville down, the Titans tacked on five runs in the top of the third inning thanks to three doubles and a single that gave them a 7 – 0 advantage over Zanesville.  The Senior Legion tried to battle back in the bottom of the sixth inning but were only able to scrape up three runs and they fell to the visitors 7 – 3.
