Eaglesticks in Zanesville hosted the Muskingum University’s Annual Athletic Booster Golf Outing. In this, their 25th year of this signature fundraising event for the Muskingum Athletic Department, the event hit full capacity of 34 foursomes, 136 golfers on June 4th, more than a full month before the event.
The event was sponsored by twenty different corporate sponsors and was organized by Muskingum University’s Athletic Department Assistant Director Tom Caudill. Coaches and other athletic department staff members helped with the outing, working on things like sign-ins, and raffle ticket sales, and of course, Magnus the Muskie was on hand to greet golfers as they arrived.
To kickoff the day the crew at Eaglesticks performed a ball drop on the practice green just outside the clubhouse where the ball that hit the designated hole would win a monetary prize.
“The outing has two really important accomplishments, or goals, one is we bring Alums together and they see each other, some of them haven’t seen each other for a long time, they have a good time, and they talk with one another, and that’s really important. Muskingum has a lot of connections to our Alums and they really are excellent both supporters and fans of the institution, so we love having the opportunity to bring them together. And the other reason is raising money for the institution and for the Athletic Department, that allows us to really provide good experiences for our student-athletes so it is an important event for us.” stated Muskingum University President Sue Hasseler.
Overall the golfers enjoyed a beautiful day for 18 holes and are looking forward to next year’s outing which will be held at Eaglesticks on July 18th, 2025.
