One of Dresden’s largest shopping events of the year is upon us. The Dresden Community Association’s (DCA) annual Ladies’ Night Out is scheduled for Saturday, November 16 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., registration starts at 3:00. This free community event is the perfect opportunity for residents of Dresden and the surrounding communities to kick start their Christmas shopping, discover or rediscover Dresden’s shops and restaurants, and enjoy time with friends and maybe even make some new ones.
Event co-chairs, Tina Smythe of Dresden & Company and Lurenda Hayes of Sage REdesign have teamed up to lead the charge in bringing this year’s event to life.
“This is one of the DCA’s biggest events of the year,” explained Smythe. “It is an opportunity for the community to continue to support businesses that call Dresden home. Bring a friend, it is going to be a fun night! As much as we appreciate the out-of-town visitors, we certainly appreciate the local support.”
The evening will begin at 701 Main Street, Dresden, recently dubbed Dresden’s Vision Center, for registration. While there attendees can purchase the commemorative silver Ladies’ Night Out shopping bag ($10 cash) as a keepsake. The oversized shopping bag will also contain a few items from participating businesses. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the bags will go to the DCA. Ladies can also pick up their Walking BINGO card and trolley map (the trolley will run from 4 to 7 p.m.). Before heading out to shop don’t forget to complete the door prize slip! Door prize drawings will be done throughout the night at the top of every hour beginning at 5:00 p.m. and the grand prize drawing will conclude the evening at 7:15 p.m. The drawings will be held at Union Square (701 Chestnut St.). Winners must be present to claim their prize. Completed BINGO cards are to be turned in at Union Square as well before 7:10 p.m.
During the event, attendees can expect free treats at most of the participating businesses including cookies, a cocoa bar, a coffee bar, and even adult beverages. Every shop will have something different to offer their guests. Plus look for sales at many participating businesses that night as well. Of course, there will be amazing food and refreshments available for purchase at The Warehouse Restaurant (18 E 9th St.) and The Dresden Brew (807 Main St.) as well as from Dresden’s other eateries that are open during the event. In addition, two food trucks will be onsite including Jamie’s Street Kitchen and The Hangry Sisters Kitchen.
For shopping, look for these participating merchants to be open during Ladies’ Night Out; Beauty By Design (807 Main St.), Dresden & Company (416 Main St.), Humble Heart (18 E 6th St.), Kinney Home Art & Decor (701 Chestnut St. – inside Union Square), Lepi & Associates (610 Main St.), Pro-Stitch Prints (15 West 8th St.), Sage REdesign (701 Chestnut St. – inside Union Square), Smore Baskets (405 Main St.), Smore Christmas (508 Main St.), The Daily Drip (405 Main Street – inside Smore Baskets), The Patio Shops of Dresden (608 Main St.), Tina Gundlefinger Photography (701 Chestnut St. – inside Union Square), and the Welcome Home Studio (701 Chestnut St. – inside Union Square). Several other shops and businesses will be open during the event, so be sure to take in all that Dresden has to offer while you are out!
Also taking place during the event is the annual Union Square Art Show which showcases local talent and a variety of mediums from sculptures to paintings and everything in between. While you are in Union Square stop in and see the gallery of amazing local art on display from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a reception at 5:00 p.m. Some of the displayed artwork will be available for purchase so you have the chance to support a local artist and take a unique work of art home with you.
