A new eatery in the food court at the Colony Square Mall, 3575 Maple Ave., Zanesville, celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting earlier this month. Pit Stop Express is located near Auntie Ann’s Pretzels in between the Muskingum County Library System outreach location in the mall and Super Brow.
“We opened November 21st was our first day, we just wanted to open up a restaurant in the Food Court to have a little variety, you know different things to choose from,” stated owner Derek Edwards. We wanted to give the public some good food and a different selection and we have a kid-friendly menu and we have kids meals and combos, our prices are really low, you are not going to find any good food like we have for the price that we have.”
“We offer mostly fried foods, we have chicken patty sandwiches, spicy chicken patties, sloppy joes, shredded chicken, a lot of the sides that we have are fried foods that you can only get at sit-down restaurants, like fried pickles, fried mushrooms, onion pedals, onion rings, we do deep fried hot dogs, mac and cheese bites, we have a lot of good stuff,” Edwards added.
In addition to fried foods, Pit Stop Express also serves sweet treats including cinnamon or powdered sugar donuts, funnel cakes, and french toast sticks.
When asked why he chose this location Edwards stated, “Why not the mall? We wanted to give the public a little variety, we have a lot of repeat customers that are in here every day and we definitely appreciate that.”
“We’re very pleased to be able to have this additional offering here in the mall food court,” stated Jessica Brailer, the General Manager for Colony Square Mall. “I feel this addition really rounds out the current offerings we have, and the menu here at the Pit Stop is family-friendly, it’s budget-friendly, there are a lot of different options they even had breakfast items, snack items, lunch and dinner, so we’re really excited to offer this to everybody and provide a higher level of customer service to our community, and we are glad that Derek and his family made the investment to come into Colony Square Mall and they have been very well received so far. Anybody who hasn’t tried it, we want to invite everyone to come out and try some of the really great things that they have to offer.”
Pit Stop Express is open Monday through Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Sunday noon to 6:00 p.m. Follow Pit Stop Express on Facebook for more information.
