The Tri-Valley Local Schools Board of Education met on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 5:30 PM to vote on the district’s next superintendent. Pending Board of Education approval, Mr. Kirk Henderson will become superintendent effective August 1, 2025.
Mr. Henderson surfaced as the top candidate for the job based on his extensive background in school leadership, his ability to connect with individual stakeholders, and his clear passion for serving the students, staff, and community of Tri-Valley Local Schools. According to Board president, Mr. Scott Ford, “Mr. Henderson’s experience and professionalism set him apart with the different stakeholder groups of the district and we feel he is going to be a great fit here at Tri-Valley. We are excited for the future!”
Mr. Henderson is an experienced educational leader. He started his administrative career as an assistant middle school principal at Teays Valley Middle School and then at Canal Winchester High School. He assumed the head principal position at Canal Winchester High School and served in that role for a decade. He is currently the assistant superintendent of Circleville City Schools, overseeing day-to-day operations of the school district. Mr. Henderson holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from The Ohio State University, a certificate in Learning Disabilities from Capital University, and a Master of Education from Ashland University.
Mr. Henderson and his wife Jenny are the proud parents of five children, Marissa, Kelly, Amanda, Jimmy and Mya and eight grandchildren. In addition to spending time with his family, Mr. Henderson enjoys the occasional golf outing with his sons-in-law.
In Mr. Henderson’s words, “I’m excited to move into the district and start getting to know the people in the Tri-Valley family.”
Mr. Henderson is eager to begin his transition as superintendent and plans to be visible in the district over the coming months prior to his official start date of August 1, 2025.
