Vs Tuscarawas Valley (2/22)
The Lady Tornadoes headed to Coshocton High School to face the Tuscarawas Valley Trojans in a District playoff game on Saturday. West M was behind the eight-ball from the start, with the Lady Trojans jumping out to an early 18 – 8 lead. It would seem that Tusc Valley could not be stopped as they pumped their lead up to 29 – 12 at the end of the first half.
Back on the court, the West Muskingum girls were still having a hard time getting through the Trojan’s defenses as they fell further back to a 42 – 19 deficit at the end of the third period. The girls were able to rally in the fourth quarter to gain some ground but still fell to the Trojans 54 – 26, ending their playoff run with a District V Runner-Up trophy and the MVL Small School division title on a 16 – 8 record.
Addy Antonetz was the lead scorer for West M with nine points, and Lyla Johnson had eight points and four rebounds.
Vs Edison (2/19)
The girls from West Muskingum and Edison High School met up at Buckeye Trail to compete in a playoff game on Wednesday. The Lady Tornadoes left the Wildcats in the dust in the first quarter as they came out with a fiery, fast 14 – 6 lead as they neared the second quarter. As the first half drew to a close, West Muskingum kept rolling with their offense running on all cylinders as they sent the Wildcats to the locker room with a 29 – 8 disadvantage.
The break allowed Edison to gather their thoughts and find some ways to break through on offense, and they did, but they still had a long way to go as the Tornadoes led near the beginning of the fourth quarter by a score of 51 – 24. As the minutes slipped away, it was clear that Edison was not going to be able to tie up the game, and the Lady Tornadoes took the 67 – 30 win.
