Steubenville Big Red ended the playoff track for the Scotties

Vs Steubenville (2/25)

Tri-Valley headed to Claymont High School on Tuesday for a neutral ground playoff against the Big Red from Steubenville. In a flurry of points and turnovers from both teams, the Big Red took a demanding 26 – 19 lead at the end of the first quarter. Although the Scotties were making shots and blocking shots, the speed made it hard for them to hold their ground, and they took a 41 – 31 deficit to the locker room at the break.

As the second half kicked off, the Dawgs fought hard to narrow the lead that the Big Red had amassed, and they did chip away at it a little heading into the final frame down 57 – 48. As the final buzzer neared, Steubenville gave it everything they had while keeping the Dawgs at an arms length to take a 73 – 60 win closing down Tri-Valley’s playoff run.

Max Lyall led the Scotties with 20 points, Nohah Nichols had 19 points, Keaton Hahn had eight points, Ryan Lamonica put up six points, and Troy Patterson had five.

Tri-Valley wrapped up their season with a 19 – 5 record and the MVL Big School Division Title.

Vs Dover (2/21)

Friday night at the Dawg House in Dresden, the Crimson Tornadoes paid a visit for the opening of the postseason for the Scotties.  Although they fully expected to beat Dover, Tri-Valley still struggled in the first few minutes of the game to get out in front and stay there, taking a narrow 10 – 6 lead by the end of the first quarter.  The Scotties continued to build the gap in the second quarter while defending against the Tornadoes, racking up a 21 – 13 lead heading into intermission.

The gloves were off in the second half of the game as the Dawgs flew forward in the third quarter to build a 20-point advantage over the Crimson Tornadoes with a score of 39 – 19 heading into the final quarter.  Dover tried to bounce back in the final period but barely scratched at the lead, while the Dawgs finished strong with a 53 – 37 victory.

Keaton Hahn was the leading scorer for the Dawgs with 14 points. Nohah Nichols had 13 points, Max Lyall had 10, Devin Crane had eight points, and Kam Karns and Ryan Lamonica each had four.
