Musical fans rejoice! The Sound of Music: Youth Edition, is being presented by the Bishop Rosecrans Drama Club on March 20, 21, and 22 and you will not want to miss it!
There will be four opportunities to catch the show, Thursday, March 20, and Friday, March 21 at 7 p.m. or stop in for the matinee on Sunday, March 22 at 2 p.m. or the final show at 7 p.m. The total run time for the performance is about 60 minutes plus a 15-minute intermission.
The stage is set at Breitfeller Auditorium in Bishop Rosecrans High School (1040 East Main Street, Zanesville).
50 Students (43 from Rosecrans and 7 from Bishop Fenwick) are involved as either cast or crew and worked hard to help create a top-notch viewing experience worth well beyond the ticket price.
Aiding with the production are Roger Ward (Set Design), Music Direction, Sheryl Wise (Music Direction), Jillian Von Gunten (Assistant Director), Megan Lenox (Choreography), and Jillian Lepi (Director, Producer, and Musical Direction).
This will be Jillian Lepi’s final time directing. She has directed productions at the Catholic Schools of Zanesville—Bishop Rosecrans High School and Bishop Fenwick School—for the past ten years, directing a total of 15 shows including Shrek Jr., Grease, and a special radio drama adaptation of A Christmas Carol during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This final production is incredibly meaningful to me,” said Lepi. “It represents a decade of creativity, collaboration, and witnessing students grow both on and off the stage. Theater is so much more than performing—it builds confidence, fosters teamwork, and provides opportunities for students to develop skills beyond the spotlight. Whether they are acting, working backstage, or managing lights and sound, each student plays a vital role, gaining hands-on experience in technology and production. Every show has been a labor of love, and this final production of The Sound of Music is a celebration of the hard work, passion, and memories we’ve created together. It’s bittersweet, but I am deeply grateful for every moment and for the lasting impact these experiences have had on our school community.”
