Vs. River View (4/14)
On Monday night, the Scotties travelled to Warsaw to play the Black Bears. On the very first at bat, Brady Kaufman hit a homerun to center field to take a quick 1 – 0 lead for Tri-Valley. In the top of the 2nd inning, Oliver Baker stole home base to jump the Scotties lead up to 2 – 0, while Kaufman held the Black Bears batting lineup down. In the top of the 3rd inning, Baker singled to right field to drive home Isaiah Cullins and Blayne Riley for a 4 – 0 lead over River View. Daniel Huffman singled in the next at bat to allow Kian Drummonds to score the Scottie’s fifth run of the game. Kaufman stepped up next to blast a three-run homer over the left field fence, ending the scoring for the inning but blasting Tri-Valley’s lead to 8 – 0. Cullins scored in the top of the 4th inning after Huffman was hit by a pitch. Kaufman walked in the next at bat, pushing home Riley for a 10 – 0 lead. Drummonds and Huffman scored on a ground ball to left field hit by Kade Hindel. Gavin Harrold drove in the last run of the inning with a single line drive to left field, building the Tri-Valley lead to 13 – 0. Garrett Brocklehurst hit a fly ball to left field to start off the scoring for the top of the 5th inning, allowing Riley to score. A few plays later, Brocklehurst scored on a passed ball, followed by Huffman and Kaden King, both scoring on walks to land the Scotties up 17 – 0. After a 1,2 3 bottom of the 5th, the game was ended on a mercy, giving Tri-Valley and Kaufman a shut-out victory.
On Saturday the 12th, Tri-Valley took a trip to Millersburg to play the West Holmes Varsity Knights. The Dawgs got on the board first in the top of the 3rd inning with three runs on two errors. They came back in the top of the 5th to grab a run off of a single by Ryan Lamonica and two more runs off of an error to end the top of the inning up 6 – 1. The final score of the game for the Scotties came on another error in the top of the 6th. The Knights landed one more run before the end of the game, but the Dawgs took the 7 – 2 win.
Earlier in the week, Tri-Valley lost a 2 – 0 game against the Hiland Hawks after winning back-to-back conference games over the Philo Electrics in the form of a 21 – 1 win on Tuesday the 8th. In that game Brady Kaufman had four RBIs. The Scotties scored nine runs on five hits in the bottom of the 3rd inning. And eight runs on six hits in the bottom of the 4th.
Tri-Valley beat the Electrics the day before on the road in Duncan Falls where they jumped out to an early lead in the top of the 1st inning to take a 3 – 0 lead that held until they grabbed three more runs in the top of the 5th. Ultimately, the Dawgs came back home with a 7 – 1 win over Philo.
