Tri-Valley 14 – 3 overall and undefeated in the MVL after sweeping Morgan

Vs. Morgan (4/28, 4/30)

The Scotties hit the road on Monday to head to McConnelsville for game one in a two-game series against the Raiders.  The first two innings of the game went on without a score until the top of the 3rd, where the Dawgs landed a couple of singles to get on the board with a 3 – 0 lead. Two more runs in the fifth from Cullins and Harrold, and the Dawgs led 5 – 0. Tri-Valley pushed out one more run to win game one with a 6 – 0 score. Harrold was credited with a no-hitter.

Morgan was not ready for the trip to Dresden on Wednesday, as the Dawgs caught them off guard with a light-speed first inning where they popped out an eight-run rally. Picking up three runs each in the bottom of the next two innings, Tri-Valley was up 14 – 0 before the single run that Morgan landed in the top of the 4th. The Dawgs ended their scoring run with another rally in the 7th inning for seven runs, winning the game after shutting down the Morgan offense in the top of the 5th for a series sweep and a 21 – 1 victory.

Vs. Big Walnut (4/26)

On the road Saturday, the Scotties jumped out to a 5 – 1 lead over Big Walnut but the offense stalled out as the Eagles tuned them up for two runs in the 4th and then tied the game and grabbed the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 7th inning to leave the Scotties in the lurch with a 6 – 5 loss.

Vs. West Muskingum (4/25)

On Friday, Tri-Valley played the West Muskingum Tornadoes and started the game with Nash Baughman pitching a 1,2,3 inning before Kaufman scored on a sacrifice fly from Cullins in the bottom of the 1st. Kaufman proceeded to homer over the left field fence in the bottom of the 2nd inning to give the Scotties a 2 – 0 advantage.  West M answered back in the top of the 3rd with a run from Hill who scored on an error to cut the Dawgs lead in half. A double and two singles in the bottom of the inning pushed Tri-Valley ahead 6 – 1. They held that lead until the top of the 5th when Wiseman hit a three-run homer for the Tornadoes close the gap back to two at 6 – 4 TV.  Kaufman scored on a single by Harrold in the bottom of the 6th to increase to seven runs. A double from Wiseman made the game a little too close for comfort for Tri-Valley but Hindel was able to wrap things up from the mound and the Dawgs took a 7 – 6 victory.

Vs. New Lexington (4/24)

The Panthers rode the bus to Dresden on Thursday, where they shut down in the 1st inning before the Scotties used a double, a single, and a wild pitch to jump out to a 5 – 0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning. By the bottom of the next inning, they had increased their score to 8 – 0 with help from a double from Riley and a fielder’s choice from Casen Baker that led to two runs. New Lex grabbed a run in the top of the 3rd before being stopped again. Kaufman homered over the center field fence in the bottom of the 3rd to set the score to 9 – 1, Tri-Valley. Kaufman hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the 4th inning to cap the Scotties runs at 12.  In the top of the 5th inning the Panthers grabbed a run on an error but that was the end of their game as Hahn was thrown out advancing to second giving the Dawgs a 12 – 2 win.

Vs. Sheridan (4/21 – 4/22)

During game two in Thornville on Tuesday, Tri-Valley once again was the first to light the scoreboard with three quick runs in the top of the 3rd inning.  They grabbed one more run off of a single by Riley in the top of the 5th, and Harrold pitched the second of two shutouts against the Generals to sweep the series with a 4 – 0 victory.

Kenny Wolford Park hosted game one against the Sheridan Generals on Monday, where the Diamond Dawgs took the lead in the bottom of the 1st off of a double from Harrold to put Tri-Valley up 1 – 0. Kaufman pitched two straight shutout innings before stepping up to the plate to smack a homer into left field in the bottom of the 3rd to increase Tri-Valley’s lead to 2 – 0. Brady made a repeat performance in the bottom of the 4th with a grand slam, followed by a single from Lamonica to score Hindel to take the inning 7 – 0. After another three straight outs for the Generals, the Dawgs wrapped up the game with two more runs from Huffman, and Baker stole home to end the game with a shut-out 10 – 0 score.

Vs. Dover (4/19)

The Scotties headed to Dover to play the Crimson Tornadoes on Saturday, where they jumped out ahead in the top of the 1st on a single from Harrold to run in Kaufman, putting them up 1 – 0. The Dawgs held the lead until the bottom of the 4th inning when Mast singled for a Dover run to tie the game at 1 – 1. A couple of Tri-Valley errors and another single from Dover put them in the lead 5 – 1. Gibb hit a two-run homer over the left field fence to wrap up the game, sending the Scotties home with a 7 – 1 loss.

Vs. Coshocton (4/17)

On Thursday in Coshocton, the Scotties were looking to shock the Redskins and they started in that direction right out of the gate.  Ryan Lamonica started the scoring for the Diamond Dawgs with a double to left field that brought home Brady Kaufman and Kade Hindel for a quick 2 – 0 followed by a sacrifice fly by Isaiah Cullins that brought Lamonica across home plate for a 3 – 0 lead before a fly out in the next at-bat to place the mark at 2 – outs for the top of the 1st,  Gavin Harrold stole home when Carter Dinan was up to the plate, Dinan singled on a pop fly to shortstop to grab an RBI when Drummonds ran across home plate to kick the score up to 5 – 0. Kaufman officially kicked the opening inning rally into high gear with a three-run homer to center field. Harrold doubled to left to bring in Hindel and Lamonica to finalize the top of the 1st inning at 10 – 0. Coshocton picked up a single run in the bottom of the 2nd inning before Nash Baughman struck out the final batter. Lamonica singled in the top of the 3rd to allow Kaufman to score in the first of nine runs for the inning to jump out to a huge 19 – 1 lead. Drummonds hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the 5th to allow Casen Baker to score the 20th run, followed by Brocklehurst hitting a single to bring in Harrold to end the inning up 21 – 1.  Quinton Hindel pitched for a strikeout, a flyout, and a pop-up to end the game for the win.
