Tri-Valley softball gains ground with wins over Morgan and New Lexington

Vs. Morgan (4/28, 4/30)

The Scotties made the long drive to McConnelsville to play the Raiders on Monday in game one of a two-game series. Morgan started off scoring for the game with a run in the bottom of the 1st inning to grab a 1 – 0 lead.  Larsyn Holdsworth tripled in the top of the 4th inning to bring in Cydnee Wolford to tie up the game. Delaney Bell doubled later in the inning to push Holdsworth and Ally Peterson across home base for a 3 – 1 lead. Paiton Murphy scored a run on a passed ball in the top of the 5th inning to increase the lead to 4 – 1. Holdsworth singled on a pop fly to center in the top of the 7th inning to finish scoring for the game, with Tri-Valley taking game one in a 5 – 1 victory.

On Wednesday, the Raiders came to Dresden to finish the series against Tri-Valley.  The Raiders took another early 1 – 0 lead with a run in the top of the 1st. Holdsworth hit a double in the bottom of the inning to answer back, bringing home Alivia Reffitt to tie it up 1 – 1. Wolford singled in the bottom of the 3rd to drive in Gerran Matthews to take the go-ahead run. Holdsworth singled, driving in Wolford to take a 3 – 1 lead. Katelyn Paxson stole home base to increase the lead to 4 – 1 in the bottom of the 4th inning. Morgan gained another run in the top of the 6th but couldn’t cover the deficit, and Tri-Valley swept the series with a 4 – 2 game two win.

Vs. West Muskingum (4/25)

The Lady Dawgs headed to nearby West Muskingum for a game against the Lady Tornadoes on Friday. Alivia Reffitt homered in the top of the 1st inning to take a 1 – 0 lead for Tri-Valley. Ashlyn Davis doubled in the top of the 2nd inning ot drive home Matthews for the 2 – 0 lead. Tri-Valley had four runs in the top of the 4th inning, including a two-run homer by Murphy to kick the lead to 6 – 0 against West M. A double and a two-run homer by Bare in the bottom of the inning to shorten the Dawgs’ lead to 6 – 4. Antonetz homered for West M in the bottom of the 5th inning to trail by just one run. Holding the Scotties at 6 through the next two innings, the Lady Tornadoes grabbed two more runs off of a homer by Hammer that gave them the walkoff 7 – 6 win.
