Vs. New Lexington (4/28)
West Muskingum hosted the New Lexington Panthers on Monday. From the start of the game, the Tornadoes dominated the game with Ashton Ansel pitching three straight strikeouts to shut out the Panthers in the top of the 1st inning. In the bottom of the inning with bases loaded, Sam Wiseman stepped up to hit a grand slam over the left field fence to give the Tornadoes a 4 – 0 lead. New Lex picked up a run in the top of the 2nd inning, and another in the top of the 3rd, but still trailed by two. A double by Grady Dollings started off scoring in the bottom of the 4th, followed by singles from Ansel, Preston Farrell, and Wes Houston to increase the Tornadoes’ lead to 8 – 2 after four innings. Kaiden Flemming added the ninth run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Houston singled to drive in Ansel in the bottom of the 6th, then scored on a passed ball later that inning, followed by an RBI single from Amari Harris to finish out the game with the Tornadoes taking a decided 12 – 2 victory over New Lexington.
Vs. Ridgewood (4/26)
On the road to West Lafayette on Saturday, the Tornadoes wanted to show off their talents as Wiseman hit a two-run homer to light up the scoreboard at 2 – 0, West M. Ridgewood scored a run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 2nd inning, but still trailed by one. Connor Hill doubled in the bottom of the 4th to bring in Braxton Brownrigg, followed by Dolling’s single to right field to drive in Hill to put the score at 4 – 1 West. The final two runs of the game came in the top of the 7th inning when Connor Lynn doubled to send Siles Kuhn across home base, followed by a sacrifice fly from Brownrigg to score Wiseman and wrap up the game with a 6 – 1 win over their competitors.
Vs. Tri-Valley (4/25)
Friday afternoon in Dresden started off rough for the Tornadoes as the Scotties landed runs in the bottom of each of the first two innings before Farrell could land a run for West M with a single to center that drove Hill home. Tri-Valley answered back with a four-run inning in the bottom of the 3rd to take a 6 – 1 lead. Wiseman hit a three-run homer in the top of the 5th to drive in Dollings and Kuhn, but they still trailed by two at the end of the 5th inning. Tri-Valley’s Harrold singled in the bottom of the 6th to drive in Kaufman for the 7 – 4 lead. Wiseman doubled in the top of the 7th, driving home Ansel and Farrell, but West M fell just one run shy of tying the game against the Scotties, and they went home empty-handed after the 7 – 6 loss.
Vs. Maysville (4/21, 4/22)
In a back-to-back two-game series against nearby Maysville Panthers, the Tornadoes swept the series with a massive 14 – 4 victory in game one, followed by a closer 12 – 9 win in game two.
The Tornadoes will be traveling to take on the Licking Valley Panthers on Saturday, with game time set for 7 pm.
